    failed inspection?!

oh, and I think the confusion with the ties is in the type. Collar ties are for uplift (installed in the upper 1/3), rafter ties are to keep walls from spreading (installed in lower 1/2)

    failed inspection?!

I'd explore other options that they might accept, or just do it, keep moving, and talk isht about them after you get your CC

    failed inspection?!

I would say it might not hurt to talk to an engineer. My town recently changed their rules on permits/construction and anything over 250sqft (even decks/sheds/etc) needs to be stamped. I build a lot of decks and the like, and that has put a bit of a wrinkle in the process. I always overbuild...

    New Garage Build

Nice idea for the trusses. I am in the framing stage of my garage build right now, with a similar size (22wx26d, plus a carport on one side), and I wrestled with this idea for a while. I ended up going to 11' walls with attic trusses for the whole thing as my house is relatively tall (so it...

    Conduit into new garage

The second 2" is a spare at this point, but I think I will run a third that is 1". Now's the time! I know I'll never regret it. I guess I am so used to putting everything down 4+ feet for water, I didn't really consider the fact that it is just electric. I have a few odd lengths of that sill...

    Conduit into new garage

thought I might be. Should I even bother putting a sleeve where it passes through the concrete, or is that unnecessary?

    Conduit into new garage

We'll be pouring concrete next week for our new detached garage I want to run (2) 2" lines of conduit from the house, 4' deep, with a 90 deg. bend turning it straight up through the concrete, so I can avoid having exposed conduit on the outside of the building, and terminate the run right at...

    One-of-a-kind pole barn's done

very nice garage. I am about to start on mine, and will be building a similar style door, but it will be sliding. Nice job, and way to break some pole barn preconceptions
