    Makita vs Milwaukee cordless tools

What about service after the sale? Are there any standouts good or bad? My experience has been if the products are pretty much the same, it then boils down to customer service. Thoughts? Jim

Recommendations on equipment for home shop

Welcome to the forum. Since your trusses won't take the load, maybe a mobile adjustable gantry crane? By hoist, do you mean car lift? Without a location and size of your shop, it's hard to make any recommendations heaters. Consider adding your location. What type of work do you like or want...

Well done sir. And thank you for taking the time to document your work. Hope you consider doing the same when you do your shop. Jim

    Lean-to Shed Construction Progress

I went back to the beginning just to review, and all I can say is, wow! Even with the minor setback on the flooring, you've made very good progress in my opinion. It's now for the most part weather tight and you're on the homestretch. I'm impressed.. Out of curiosity, have you kept track of...

    Lean-to Shed Construction Progress

I second the idea of a couple of outlets both inside and out. In the spirit of overbuild of course:thumbup: You never know when, but they will come in handy some day and now is the time to add them. You're making good progress! Jim

    Ears Ringing after using Machinery

I usually double up on hearing protection; foamies and muffs. If you're wearing hearing protection, you are probably doing something that requires eye protection too - sawing, power nailing, machining, shooting... I find the temple pieces of safety glasses tend to break the seal of ear muffs...

    Lean-to Shed Construction Progress

Just for comparison, a common 2x4x8 is $3.18 vs 4.77 for PT at my local Lowes. Well worth the $10 it may add to your project in my opinion. I used an angle grinder with an old flap wheel to remove old mastic from some patio stones I had to reset. Worked pretty well. Hitting a broken off nail...

    Lean-to Shed Construction Progress

This is what I used to paint the pressure treated plywood deck of a home built motorcycle trailer. Worked out pretty well. Might be a little difficult to sweep though. Never tried it...

    Lean-to Shed Construction Progress

Unless you have gutters draining under the shed or other water draining/flowing,it should be plenty dry. You're installing metal mesh around the perimeter to keep critters out so you should have plenty of ventilation. Will it be popcorn-fart dry? Probably not but dry enough that I bet what...

Bathroom In The Shop...Yes or No????

This, even if it's just a showerhead off a wall with a pull chain. You don't need a drain if there is even a little slope in the floor to the door.

Crazy Water bill -- FIX yer leaks !!!!!

Fix the toilets then go watch the meter for awhile. If it moves, you probably have another leak somewhere. Don't assume it's just the toilets. My house is 30 years old and the line from the meter to the house is that polyethyl-badstuff. You know, the type that breaks about 30 minutes after...

    Idea for storing flammables safely.

Maybe check with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for standards or recommended practices. Are you running a small repair business or is this for personal use? The requirements may be completely different. Storing it in your carport? Is it attached to your house? Can you...

What would you do ? Contractor problems

Dump him and start over. If the site prep and slab aint right, you'll have nothing but headaches when it cracks, shifts, sinks, etc. So far you've made all the concessions. What has he offered in return for his lack of performance? The fact you here asking questions indicates you have doubts...

What do I need to get my new lift going?

No expert here, but I'd start by reading the directions. That should tell you what the power requirements, and may also include a wiring diagram. It should also include a list of what you need to put the lift in operation such as the hydraulic oil you mentioned. Since you haven't taken...

Best Advice Given, in a Single Sentence

Remove the fill plug before removing the drain plug. You're in a jam if you do it the other way around and can't get the fill plug out. Jim

    Stolen Tools

^^ I get it, but it just ain't right. Like buying insurance from Al Capone so your windows don't get shot out. Maybe the best you can hope for is that the world turns in a circle. Jim

Mr Contractor, you're fired (how to?)

Read the contract then read it again. Make sure you understand who is responsible for what. If subcontractors and suppliers are involved, you want lien releases. No point having them coming after you for payment after the original contractor is gone. Jim
