Adding a ceiling junction box from a wall outlet?

First off, ac power is somewhat like dc in the sense there is power and ground. The difference is the black is power, white is neutral (or what you think of as a ground), and if in most situations, a third wire that is bare and is considered the ground. Now in your situation, there is more than...

So I finally have power to the shop and all receptacles wired and in service. I am now ready to start installing lights and cant decide how to start running wire. Its a 30x30 main shop which will have 3 rows of lights- two 8' t8 fixtures spaced four feet apart per row making each row 20'...

Dug up phone line, what should I expect?

Well they came out the other day and fixed the line. They just marked the location of the line, dug right where it was pulled loose, and buried a new line from there directly to the pedestal (about 25'). Took them about 3 hrs. Now I wait nervously for a bill...

Wiring Shop by running underground feeder about 150ft. from panel in house

I just did exactly what you are talking about-150 run and wanted 75amps at the panel in the shop, bought a cutler hammer 100 amp box with main breaker and came with 5 20 amp breakers, and a double pole 30 amp breaker for $50 at lowes. (#2 is technically not rated for 100a @150ft) I used the 100a...

Dug up phone line, what should I expect?

I wish I could say it was wasnt deep enough but it was probably 18" so I cant use that excuse. Like I said though it really should be ran closer to the right of way to avoid crossing two different buried services on my property. And it is a 3 pair which means it services three neighbors also...

Dug up phone line, what should I expect?

Before anyone tells me about 1-800-digrite, I know. I forgot and made an idiotic honest mistake and not one I will make again. To my defense the line is buried in an odd path in my opinon. It crosses both my underground service to my house and my shop which could be ran outside of the power line...

Setting up service to my new garage

Ok, I see what you're talking about now. Is the fourth wire a ground that runs panel to panel? I assume the othe is a neutral.

Setting up service to my new garage

pattenp Isnt 2-2-2-1 #2 wire? Also does this mean it is a four wire setup? I will definitely be using aluminum wire and I was under the impression alot of people use #2 al u.s.e. for garage use.

Setting up service to my new garage

Hey fellow members, I am ready to get service to my new pole barn/garage and would like some input on what is needed as far as getting service cable and box setup. I had the local Co Op engineer come out and this is what he recommended, tell me what you think. We dont have any code in our county...

Ideas for garden tool rack made out of wood??

I am starting to organize my new pole barn and want to figure out a way to build a garden tool rack to hang shovels, rakes etc. and dont want to use those expensive rails. I was thinking about maybe using a hole saw and cutting oblong grooves in a 2x6 or 2x4 but no solid plans yet. :headscrat...

Update: 30x30 Pole Barn w/ loft

Well its been a while since I posted pics. Finally got the thing closed in, upstairs floor complete and finished installing the overhead door tracks today. All that is left with the doors is to wind the springs. Ive heard that it is a "fun" job. Will probably find out next week.

Update: 30x30 Pole Barn w/ loft

It's double bubble radiant barrier. Double layer of air bubble material sandwiched between white plastic material and reflective surface on the other. Serves as a dual purpose of keeping the heat outside the building and the moisture from "raining" inside the building when humidity is high.

    Aeroworks Garage

Awesome work on the garage, love the big door/little door concept. I am doing the same sort of thing on my 30x30 pole barn build. Also gotta see pics of the Pitts and 150. I'm a corporate beechjet pilot and my dad owns an old '65 model C150. Good to see fellow aviators out there!

Update: 30x30 Pole Barn w/ loft

Have'nt posted any pics in a while so figured I would give an update. I am FINALLY starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I started putting the metal up sometime near the end of September and am just now getting ready to close in the third wall! The roof was a real challenge being...
