I would be real leery of a used A model. There were a significant number of them that had power issues when torque was applied. That is why the handle was redesigned. Not all of them had the problem.

If it was me, I would bite the bullet and buy the replacement handle. If you have the fabricating capability, it would be possible to make something yourself. I have never seen it done.
