    matco 88

Yup, the paste/gel stuff, looks like dielectric grease. The 88 kits don't seem to mind it as long as you don't go overboard. While on the subject, the gearwrench 60 tooth kits don't have a problem either but the 84 tooth kits bind like crazy and reverse with the super lube, if you use it on the...

    matco 88

I have the Armstrong versions, but bought Matco 88 kits to go in the flex rarchets and the kits came marvel mystery oil, I took them apart and cleaned all the oil out and lubed them with super lube though. Mine are super smooth now. I put a pretty liberal amount in them. If you go crazy with...

There are two versions of that kit, a 40 piece I believe and then the 48 piece. The only one I've ever seen in the stores is the smaller set, the large one is on the website and only gives an option to ship. $39.99 if you are a Craftsman Club member and it's a hell of deal at that price. It's...

Sears: Kastar KAS2599 20pc Rethreader Die Set $51.52 + Other USA Cman

That's a hell of a deal there. That is the same set that Snap-On sells, though it has been argued that CMAN will not warranty these but Snap-On will. I bought this set around the beginning of the year and have nothing bad to say about it, it is top notch.

The 1/2" regular handle (12-992) is also only 60 tooth. You are correct about the the rebuild kits as well, mine all have Matco 88 kits in them now. Armstrong also offers the 88 kits for 1/4" and 3/8" but not 1/2".

Because of the Garage Journal: Tools

I've spent a bunch of money because of this site. I don't regret any of it though. I went from a 255 piece craftsman set in one of those plastic boxes to a CMAN 26 stack then to a HF 56" that is now full. Before GJ I was completely happy and oblivious to what I was missing out on tool wise. My...

Snap-on VS Wright Tool --- Flank Drive Plus VS WrightGRIP

Awesome test, well done. One thing that would neat to see is if the Snap-On or Wright would grab and turn a bolt that was rounded by one of the other wrenches in your previous test.

    Which 3/8 flex head ratchet?

Answer is in the first post:

    Which 3/8 flex head ratchet?

That's interesting, I thought the 120xp gear set was thicker than those in the 60,84,88 tooth ratchets and wouldn't fit.

    Which 3/8 flex head ratchet?

Or buy the Armstrong and put a Matco 88 (or Armstrong 88), and basically have the same ratchet (brand new for about the price of a used Matco) except for the handle which I prefer over Matco anyway. Plus I like the Armstrong reversing lever better than the one on the Matco.

    Which 3/8 flex head ratchet?

I've got the Armstrong Maxx 3/8" (1/4" and 1/2" as well) that I put an 88 tooth kit in. It is quickly becoming the ratchet I grab most often even if I don't need a flex head for the particular job. I have a couple other flex head ratchet and do not care for them since they don't have the locking...
