Recommendation For LED Fixtures For Shop Storage Area

I put 3 of these in our 3 bay garage and the first time my daughter went out there and flipped the switch she said she could see her future....

    Garage door supply chain issue

Yep, sounds about right. Just finished my shop and the first thing the builder ordered after we shook hands were the doors.

    Vehicle Scanner

Morning all, I am looking at getting a new scanner as the Ancel AD310 I have is about useless. It tells me I have codes but that is about it. Anyway, it looks like the Autel MaxiCheck Pro keeps coming up, but I am wondering if there are others that you all have and like in that price range or up...

That's where I am at, just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something before I got too far along.

    Wiring Begins.....

Afternoon all, just a quick question about wiring in my attic. I do not want to drill the trusses to feed wire for the outlets, etc. unless there is a code stating that this needs to happen. Am I ok with my current plan to staple to the backside of the vertical truss member knowing that the...

    Who makes good garden hose?

Another vote on the Flexzilla. I have both the standard and the Pro versions and like the Pro better which is a fitting upgrade that is easier to grab and is more durable. The sun fades the hose after a couple years, but the flow is good, very little kinking and it rolls easily in cold weather.

Yep, words matter. I have a separate bonded ground bar now and isolated neutrals.

    Wiring Begins.....

Quick update: I called for the trench and feeder inspections last week and the feeder failed as I anticipated. Sent the correction notice to the electrician and he came out and ran an equipment ground to get me to a 4 wire, pulled the bonding screw and added an isolated ground bar to the...

Garage size to hold 6 cars

I have a 32 X 40 and there is not enough room for 6 full size cars in there without putting them on dollies and having them in storage mode. Now I did add an attic space which is 9X40 with 2 dormers, so the lounging could take place upstairs if the OP wanted them separate. My recommendation...

    Which Generator for $1000???

I have a Harbor Freight 9,000 watt Predator portable generator and wired my main panel for a generator interlock. No issues with running anything at my place. Generator, wheel kit, interlock, RV outlet and cabling was just under $1,000 and I did it myself.

How to plan for stub outs and footers?

I went with a 5" thick reinforced slab on my new shop so that I could have options down the road for lift placement. It might be next year before I can seriously talk about a lift and things might change between now and then with my vehicle fleet or general lay out needs. I have a plan for now...

Plywood Walls - Sealing between sheets?

I would use a latex paintable caulking if you are going to paint the sheets, or a clear if staying natural. Also make sure the ends land on a wall stud, otherwise you will get flex and your seam sealant will fail.

    Wiring Begins.....

Agreed, I have a layout plan and am pretty happy with it thus far. I have all the 20 amp outlets, 30 amp and 50 amp runs complete for the rough inspection. I still need to add a 30 amp RV plug however, then I can move on to the attic outlets and the lighting.

    Wiring Begins.....

Yup, got them up 48" and on two circuits as of now with the max number of 13 in mind as previously mentioned. I don't plan on a heavy load at any given time, more along the lines of easy access to an outlet and not having extension cords come in to play as often. Thanks for the reminder on the...

    Wiring Begins.....

This is the plan, and after this is done, which bar will be the ground bar, or do I need to add one as mentioned earlier?

Thanks for the responses so far, I guess the inspector and I will have something to talk about after all.
