    Wiring Begins.....

Morning everyone, I am starting to wire my newly built 30x42x14 shop and have a couple questions. First off, I had a 100 amp sub panel ran and in my research, it looks like the green bonding screw should be removed allowing the neutral bus (left side) and the ground bar (right side) to be...

New concrete pad, thickness with hoist

I just had the slab poured for my new 32x40 build and went with full 5" concrete with 3/8' rebar, 2' OC so that I could have options in the future to put the lift wherever I wanted. The added cost was $750.

    Shop Heater Sizing

The shop intent for the lower area is general parking and perimeter workspace, I plan to use the whole shop equally as I usually have several projects going on at once. The tallest item I would have, would be a 4 post lift (future purchase) that I may use as a storage option as well and park...

    Shop Heater Sizing

I would say that 25 degrees would be the coldest for our area and that may not stay for more than a few weeks. The upstairs will be a combination of storage and he/she space for crafting and reloading. Keep in mind that I have a wife and 3 girls who all think the world is ending if it drops...

    Shop Heater Sizing

The pad for my 32x40 shop was just poured and I am looking at my heating options. Any recommendations on brands of propane heater and BTU's for Southern Oregon? I have done research and calculations and they are all over the place. The shop is 32x40 with 14' ceilings, will be wrapped and...

    Ceiling Mount Electric Heater Placement

I would put them in the corners (green boxes) and utilize the fan for distribution as you have been.

    Roof Flashing

Thanks for the reply Doug, but therein lies my question. On a building without roof decking, is that rake trim and drip edge flashing actually needed or is it for aesthetics only? I mean, I can overhang the metal roofing itself by 2" on the gable and eaves.

    Roof Flashing

Been done, that's the reason for the question. I do not have roof decking/sheathing, only purlins and was wondering what people on here have done. Thanks for the reply though.

    Roof Flashing

They have all the trim and flashing available at the manufacturer and in talking to them, some people put drip edge on and some don't. Just trying to see if there is a reason for either.

    Roof Flashing

Hey guys, Getting ready to install some 3' wide Delta Rib metal roofing on my new pole barn and was wondering your thoughts on drip edge or flashing along the edges. Standard roof with 2 gables and 2 eaves with no other areas of concern and also no sheathing just the purlins. If it serves a...

    Attic Flooring question

I wouldn't over think it too much. As long as your not cutting chunks out of the support members or are really going to be overloading the floor/ceiling system, I would go either way with you plan. A few 2.5" screws aren't going to hurt anything if you want to go the 2x4 route and that should...

Best way to get rid of these brown widow spiders in my garage?

I've been using Wisdom TC Flowable Insectiside around my house for a little bit now out of a 1.5 gallon pump sprayer. It came highly recommended for my area and is wayyy cheaper than the pre-mixed sprays off the shelf.

How I insulated my pole barn

Yeah, I did read it. I obviously missed the metal roof part, but the venting is not specifically described. Thanks for catching me on that, it sure enlightened me. Great post Mark.

    pole barn shop quote, YIKES!!!

In the process of building a 24x48x12 and completely finished with concrete will be less than 20k. I am doing it all myself with the exception of the flooring. A lot of price shopping, and Home Depot does price matching plus 10%.
