    Safety glasses

Those of you that hate safety glasses,...Let me ask you two questions. 1. What is your most precious sense? 2. What would you take for one of your eyes? Answer; 1. My eyesight. 2. There is not enough money to make me sell an eye. So what is the problem with wanting to protect you most...

    Looking for peg boards

You should buy the 1/4" 'Hardened' Pegboard. You can get it in white or brown. If you don't like those colors,.. paint them whatever color you like. I concur with getting quality pegs. :3gears:

    Help me heat my garage...

Well the first thing I would do is: 1. Insulate the garage walls and ceiling. 2. Install Insulated Garage Doors. (You can sell your old doors) 3. Install a Mini Heat Pump, Wood Burning Stove or Electric Heater. (your choice)

Vogelzang.... Barrel stove kit.... PASS or FAIL????

Curious how much a Vogelzang two barrel costs. I was watching How It's Made the other day and they were showing them being made. Looks like a very good way to heat a shop.

    Cost to install mini-split system

One other thing. You can purchase a comparable unit like Frigidaire for less money and save even more with some lesser known brands. Installation costs will be the same for either. But the quality of the components inside will vary accordingly. Knowing what I know about Mitsubishi products I...

Mitsubishi Mr. Slim Heat Pump Installation

I never turn the main breaker off unless I would be working on it and so far I have never had to do anything. The Mr. Slim is operated by a furnished remote control where you can set on/off, temp, fan speed, etc. When on high speed (fan) you can barely hear it run. I placed the unit where I...

    Cost to install mini-split system

Mike, I contacted Home Depot and they wanted $5K to install a Mitsubsihi Heat Pump. I installed it myself for about $2600 including hiring an HVAC Tech for pulling a vacumm and connect the lines up to the unit (warranty). This included the Hyper Heat 18K BTU Heat Pump, which is a better unit...

    Cost to install mini-split system

Do the installation yourself, but have a HVAC tech pull a vacuum and connect the lines for warranty. The electrical hook up is simple enough. Just install the proper breaker and proper sized wiring. I got an estimate for my Mitsubishi Unit including installation and it was right at $5k. I...

Mitsubishi Mr. Slim Heat Pump Installation

Just to update my Mitsubishi Heat Pump. The H:3gears:eat Pump keeps my 900 sq ft garage nice and cool in the summer. This winter has been coldest in many years here and the heat pump works fine. But I do not run it 24/7. I only use it when I plan on working in the garage,.. like weekends. So...

    Thoughts on Festool Products.

A few years ago I started noticing Festool products at the local Woodcrafters. After picking myself off the floor after seeing the price tag, I wondered why are these people paying so much for a very awkward looking drill? Or sander? This seems rediculous. I really thought to myself this was...

Vises of Garage Journal on You Tube

I noticed that Vises of Garage Journal is on YouTube. I just stumbled onto it by accident. This may be old news but it was new to this ol'Cowboy. There were four(4) episodes when I looked. I even noticed a few of my Vises on there. :3gears:

    Behemoth Vise Restoration

Wow! I would have scrapped that big ol'vise. My compliments on the repair. I restored a 6" Charley Parker recently that had been repaired due to abuse. I purchased a 1.25 diameter ACME screw years ago and there were many manufacturers out there. I don't think Fastenal would be my first choice...

What should the slope of a gutter be?

A gutter does not have to slope very much. 1 degree will work. That downspout will have to always be clear since the run is so long. You might think about ways to keep leave out of it and/or increase the size of the downspout. Good Luck.

    220 circuits

The Amperage requirement depends on the Welder you want to use. I would recommend at least a dedicated 50A circuit for welding. I would also recommend at least a 30A capacity for a compressor. In addition, if you want to run four 220 outlets I would have each on it's own circuit breaker. Do...

Drill doctor sharpener, worth the money?

I have been very disappointed with my Drill Doctor. I have read the instructions a dozen times but my results have not been good. I can do a better job with just using my grinder. Just my opinion.

    Electrical question.....Dead circuit

I would not read all that,..BUT,...you probably have a GFI tripped and you have not found it yet. Might be behind a chest. Might be in another room.

    Vinyl Yard Shed Question

I purchased a Lifetime Plastic Shed (8'x10') six years ago. Very pleased with it and it has held up to the fierce winds in Oklahoma. It seals up pretty well. The only issue is that some of the screws that hold it together have stripped out of the plastic. I replaced them with a larger sheet...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

The vise in question says 'DOHM LTD' on the nameplate with a London address. I have not been able to find much on the net yet. What I did find it is a specialty company consisting of two engineers and a secretary. But this is one neat vise regardless. :3gears:
