New Old Stock Wheel Bearings and U-Joints

My buddy Scott is cleaning out left overs from a commercial garage. These are wheel bearings and U-Joints. He wants to sell them as a package, please no "Do you have a wheel bearing for a '76 Pinto?" questions. If you know what these part number go to, or where to find out, feel free to chime...

    Outside gas oven / range

I switched over to a natural gas grill earlier this summer. It is great not worrying about running out of LP. We use it a lot, I even "baked" some fish sticks once. But I found that holding at temperature on the grill is pretty hard. That got me wondering. Do they make outside gas ovens? I've...

    Tool box paint help

Actually, in this case yes. I have found that used file cabinets, especially the legal size ones, work great in the garage to store larger bulky tools (circular saws, grinders) that would otherwise clutter shelves. And unlike used toolboxes, used filing cabinets are cheap! In my craigs-list...

    Tool box paint help

Anybody paint with something other than rustoleum? I know it can provide good resutls, but I've been told that when trying to paint over rustoleum later down the road it can be a problem. Maybe I was mis-informed, but I was told if I ever wanted to paint it again, I'd have to strip it to bare...

    Tool box paint help

I have a large file cabinet that need to be repainted, and want some recommendations on paint to use. I'm thinking of firing up the compressor and mixing some paint for my rarely used spray gun. I've purchase auto paint from NAPA and Sherwin Williams in the past, and had good results. But I...

Power Roller or Sprayer 4 interior painting?

I've uses Sherwood Williams inside and out at my house for the last 15 years. Mostly latex. Like you, I like the way it goes on and covers. I've had good results with Porter Paints in the past too, it is also a paint store brand.

Power Roller or Sprayer 4 interior painting?

Thanks for the response. I don't tape much either. I can cut freehand with a brush at about the same speed I can tape. Maybe if I did it more, I'd be faster at taping. There would be about 1100 ft I'd need to tape, ceiling, window, doors, floors. So I guess this is not a good match for...

Power Roller or Sprayer 4 interior painting?

I'm looking for comments from users of power rollers, and airless spray systems. What have you used and how do you like it. The brother-in-law is selling his house, and I get to paint some rooms for him. He's paying for the materials, and I'm thinking there may be some new tools needed too. I...

    Indresco brand

I saw some Indresco (I think thats how it was spelled) brand wrenches at a yard sale. They were marked made in USA. Anyone know any details about this brand?

    Pipe Dope Versus Teflon Tape

Tape is neat and effective, but can get expensive if you have a lot of connections. ++ on Good dope. And in my experience, you need to let it set-up/cure before applying pressure to air pipes. Some dope sets up more quickly than others. I have some Harvey's that says "Slow Setting" and it...

circa 70's ?, 20" Toolbox ID help please

It took me a while to see it, but finally got a photo that shows the Chevy bowtie logo rip-off. I suspect sharper eyes would have seen it in a heartbeat. Someone must recall who morphed the bowtie into this toolbox logo.

circa 70's ?, 20" Toolbox ID help please

here's another photo. The long narrow embossed parallelogram is just barley visible, but you can see a little color showing in the small rectangle. The embossed shape is like a Chevy bowtie, stretched out on one side, but leaning the other way as the Chevy logo.

    Kennedy TACKLE Box????

Here is mine. Found it last week. It was empty but, while cleaning it a rusty fish hook fell out. It was lined with cork, and painted silver, but you can see Kennedy brown showing through. I believe it to be Kennedy 1018, configured as a tackle box.

circa 70's ?, 20" Toolbox ID help please

This is an old tool box of my dad's. Doubt that he spent a lot on it, but despite surface rust, it is pretty solid, so I plan to clean it up and save it. I'd like to find out who made it if possible. It is 20" wide, 8.5" deep, and 10" tall at the peek of the hiptop. I'm hoping the design on...

    Made in India ?

Quality can happen anywhere, as can ****. I've had some pretty crappy made in USA tools. I still have the first set of combo wrenches I ever bought, made in India, and they've served me well. I now have many wrenches made in the USA that are nicer and I like using them, but the India wrenches...

Tubing bender and flaring tool, which brand to buy?

If you're not going to go for the $200+ pro units, I'd go with the Ridgid. I like the way the Ridgid unit puts pressure right where the tube is, rather than at the ends of the bar.

    Can anyone ID this box?

Thanks, I'd like to be able to date it. I have a request in at Kennedy, but I'm not holding my breath. Nothing against them, just wouldn't be surprised if they had better things to do. The box is all steel. A lot of what I first thought was oxidation (rust) on the outside is actually the...

    Can anyone ID this box?

It seems that Kennedy sold the cantilever line to Homak, who now makes them in China. Another one bites the dust.... http://www.general-tool.com/kennedy.html *** UPDATE Looks like you can still buy made in USA version from Kennedy. They are still in their catalog...
