    Can anyone ID this box?

Its a Kennedy 1018. They still sell them, around $175 new based on a quick search. Here's another old one. http://www.toolchest-site.com/cantilever-style-tool-box-by-kennedy After some cleaning I was able to read the complete name. It belonged to Dr. R. C. Riddle . If it is the same Dr. R...

    Can anyone ID this box?

There are some spots on the inside that look like there is green paint under the silver. I've seen a few Kennedy boxes, and the crinkle paint does look similar, but I have not seen enough of them to know if there are any other similarities.

    Can anyone ID this box?

That's interesting. This one has a name hand painted on it in gold lettering. No other markings that I can find. Found this one at an antique shop in Michigan, along lake Michigan. That's why I'm wondering if it may have been used as tackle box. It is very heavy. Can't imagine anyone filling...

    Can anyone ID this box?

I think it may be a tackle box. It is 18x13x10 inches, has a silver crinkle paint, a leather handle and is lined with cork.

    Treated lumber tool stand

I'm convinced. Not absolutely sure if it is corrosive to tools or a health hazard, but not worth tempting fate on either count. I don't need anything big, so I'll probably just try to find a little piece of hardwood to use.

    Treated lumber tool stand

I'm thinking of making a small screwdriver stand out of some scrap lumber. I've got a nice piece of treated 4x4 that would work. Would the treated wood would be corrosive to the tools over time? Thanks

    Stack on plastic tool box

I have a 15 inch red Plano, 16 inch Rubbermaid, and 13 inch Stack-On. They have all survived more abuse than they deserved. And all were made in the USA. I use my plastic boxes mostly for parts. I like bags better for traveling. They ride better, and I think are better with heavier loads...

    Recommend Jack Stands?

I thought there is a pin that connects the lever to the release that is suppose to shear; therby preventing any release under load. If you pull up the lever with a load on it, you may end up having to buy a new shear pin. That's probably when the problems start, guys will just slip a old...

    Recommend Jack Stands?

I would love to have some of the stands shown in the other posts. I'd like to have a lift too. In the mean time, here is what I use. If the orange HF 6 ton units will fit I use them. Then its the 3 ton MVP SUV blue stands. And finally for low and light work, the HF 3 ton aluminum. I'm just...

    Floor Jack Time

I love seeing all the old jacks in other's posts. I also have the HF 2 ton twin pump 92782. HF has a coupon out for it now for $129. I also see it regularly advertised at $179, and $149.. They have it scheduled to sell for $119 for their parking lot sale Oct 1, 2, 3. And that is without a...

Set me up for painting on a budget

The forum on this site is really good for learning about automotive painting. http://www.autobodystore.com/home.shtml I was in a situation where I had two teenage sons and four daily drivers that I wanted to be able to touch-up. I think at the specific time, I had a quote for a $2,500 minor...

    Lowes now sells KD Tools

I'm not sure what this all means, but I understand Danaher is spinning off K-D and a bunch of other lines to a joint venture with Cooper. http://www.reliableplant.com/Read/23652/Danaher-Cooper-combine-tool-businesses "The combined company will bring together two major manufacturers with...

    How do I fix this?

A rubber O-ring might work. Once load is applied, the retainer shouldn't be in play. I was just reviewing a bunch of tube flaring kits, and at least on of the screw presses had a rubber O-ring holding the end on. It would just pop on and off.
