    Show your new tool arrivals

The leather they use in these items is pretty nice, too. A couple years ago, I had a pair of pants that refused to stay up, and just so happened to be in Lowe's first. The belt loops were wide enough to fit a wide tool-style belt, so I bought it. It's not stiff at all (as were most of the feed...

    Lowes deals/sales/clearance

**** like this is why I try to avoid Lowe's these days unless I need it in a hurry, am lazy, or perhaps both. The whole deal made zero sense, at all. The garbage he's slapped his name on before has ended up becoming clearance fodder at my Walmart. Heck, I swear I saw some of the "Swarms" in...

Cripe Distributing - Picked up a few nice deals

Definitely adding these to the cart. Most of what I'm buying though is 3/4 sockets. All but two of mine are no-name Taiwan--but my ratchet is now a vintage Armstrong, as are two of the sockets. Also--none are metric....

    The Everything 3D Printer Thread

My A1 is now getting pretty close to a whopping 1000 hours; and I've done the maintenance based on the prompts. At this time, what should I check and/or replace? I'm planning on ordering some odds and ends for it in June. My PTFE tubes are looking a little worn, and I replaced the textured PEI...

    The OKnife U1 Utility Folder

My advice--Leatherman Squirt if you can get one--but they're no longer made and stupidly pricey. I'd get the older P4 (or even better, EL), as the later "PS4" model had issues with scissors springs breaking. My PS4 had that happen to it, and it was given to a buddy of mine who'd lost his. I got...

    Need a good Adjustable Wrench.

A good 90% of what I own is vintage Crescent. There's so many of the things still around; and you're bound to find a cheap one. I'm pretty sure my 15" was half-buried in front of a decrepit shed when I found it, and it still works fine. Of new ones--any from the companies that have them made...

Shears / snips for cutting "tough" plastic sheets

Usually any heavy shear from the few times I've had to cut it. For me--I have a pair of Kobalt "heavy duty" shears that I bought thinking they were a type of tin snip--there's little they won't cut. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-8-in-Serrated-Molded-Grip-Scissors/1000371995 These cut...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I really need to finally break down and get one of those. I have three of the Maisto knockoff from the '90s and '00s; and so far, I have most of the Lesney castings Maisto copied during this era.

Stanley is stopping making tape measures in the USA.

Yep. And if . I've actually seen people in my Lowe's complaining that cheap tools less than half the price I've paid for "good ones" was too expensive--I mean, I saw a guy whining that $10 was too much for a hammer. I'd hate to see what would happen if he saw a Stilletto or Martinez.

Stanley is stopping making tape measures in the USA.

It's kind of already started. One of the worst adjustable wrenches I have is my modern Taiwan J706--ordered from my local mine supply as most of their Proto stuff is old-stock--but they must move a lot of 6" models . The mine supply me still has a few larger sizes that are US-made and old-stock...

Stanley is stopping making tape measures in the USA.

I think that's part of the irony. You have a Chinese company (TTI) investing in American manufacturing, yet an American company doing its best to ship stuff off overseas. I'd also put Klein as being "gulty as charged" for this as well. Heck, even Wiha has a couple things that are American-made.

    Surprise????

Can't wait! Speaking of that, I still don't get how I lost the keys to my boxes. Luckily, they weren't locked.

    1/4 drive 5/8” 6 point deep socket

EXACTLY. For 99% of what I do, the little Kobalt 1/4 drive set in the blue plastic case handles it. My HF 3/8 General Service set has an adapter that allows me to use 3/8 sockets on a 1/4 ratchet, and it's sold on its own in a pack of adapters. In the meantime, that should allow me to use any...

    Surprise????

A bunch of random bolts, an old lottery ticket, two fuel receipts from 1982, a few parts to something you can't identify, and an unidentified, hard-as-a-rock tube of "something"

SHOW OFF YOUR VINTAGE METAL CANS AND CONTAINERS!! oil, gas, ointments, and just cans

I have stuff I won't open for that very reason. I've got stuff in my cabinet with Hill's, Heck's, Ames, Ammar Brothers/A-Mart, and Magic Mart (the A-Mart chain rebranded to Magic Mart in the 1980s, closed in 2018) price tags still on them. I even have an unopened box of Blue Grass Hardware...

Craftsman "Free" Power Tool Battery & Charger?

My local Lowe's isn't doing it, but the one two towns over from me in WV is. Too bad I recycled one of my Dewalt 18V batteries to get it out of the house. Still have one, and the charger (which surprisingly is still in that kit's bag, even though I have 20V and adapters running them now). And...

Welp, I can finally cross "replace ratchets and sockets older than me" off the list. Just picked mine up today. Gotta admit, I like it.

Pliers; How Many Is Too Many?

After almost two years, my Harbor Freight finally had some of the Talon Grip clones on the shelf. Gotta admit, I like 'em. However, I do wish they'd chosen to go with the smaller sizes; as these are pretty bulky compared to my other like what, ten pairs of needlenose? And another, much...
