I need to purchase lottery tickets.

I think I need to go purchase lottery tickets today. I woke up this morning, walked out to the truck to drive and pick up Donuts for the wife and I, and my Facebook pinged. I looked at my Facebook and a fellow down the street from me listed items to be picked up for free. Instead of donuts, I...

    Show your new tool arrivals

Ive been looking at the SnapOn and Matco swivels, but I really didnt want to invest that kind of money into sockets that I'm not going to use every day. After researching and finding good reviews online, and good testing results on the Torque Test Channel, I decided to go with the Astro...

    How tall is your workbench

I prefer a higher table height, so mine is between my belly button and waist. I’m 6’7” though, so maybe I over compensated for always having to lean down to access tabletops and counter tops. Whatever the reason, I have a work bench height around 44-45 inches, and I love it.

Finishing the top of the workbench

I have a work bench made of 2x6’s. The bench is 20 years old and the only oil, stain, sealer, etc. it has seen is what has dripped off of what ever component I had on top of it. If it will see a lot of use, especially with automotive/mechanical items, it will self oil and last a long time...

    End-wrench rolls

Leather naturally has salt in it, and can have additional salt added during the tanning process. Without oil being applied, or a protective coating applied, it can cause certain metals to rust.

Shop Nation - how much does a shop building cost?

My 25' X 30' steel building built earlier this year was around $12,500 for the steel which included two roll up bay doors and a walk through, 5K for the concrete, and around 6k for the labor if I remember correctly, but that could be slightly off. I did the bulk of the dirt work myself...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

My heart aches for those V-Max’s, I hope you have grand plans for them in the future :). As wild as it sounds, thats what I learned to street ride on.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

The rear axle seal has been leaking on the truck, so I spent the day working on replacing the seal. I also bought a new smoker and thought to myself "what better time to smoke something up than while working on the truck?". So today boiled down to fixing a yoke seal on the rear axle amd...

    Shop Speakers

After buying a TV for the shop, I've noticed that the sound quality is horrid. It's a relatively small steel building at 25x30, with no insulation, and the TV doesn't have enough oomph or clarity to hear things clearly enough to enjoy it when on standing any distance away from it. I have a...

How would you install lighting in a 16 foot tall garage?

I was in your same situation. I started a weekend doing j-boxes with a ladder, but quickly decided a scissor lift was better. The scissor lift made it 100% better/easier/quicker. Listen to others and pay the rental fee, you won't regret it.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

The dogs like to urinate on our rolling gate, so it causes a lot of rust issues. As such, I spent the day cutting, welding, grinding, priming, painting, and generally fabricating a section of my rolling gate. Before After

    Winch questions

Most winch rope, if I'm not mistaken, is Dyneema. Rope is far more durable, and much lighter weight, and floats which is great for recovery in muddy/swampy areas. Most importantly though is when it breaks, it doesn't kill people, it just kinda falls. Also, tying a new hook or recovery point...
