    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

My buddy was telling me the other day he had the same experience. He didn't expect it to last too long.

As a follow up, the ratchet looks to be of good quality. When compared to a Snap-on "Dual 80" bit ratchet it definitely has more backdrag, which can be reasonably expected. The overall thickness with a bit inserted in each is the same, not factoring in the Snap-on's direction switch. In other...

    Rag safety

When I was in jr high a church in my neighborhood burned down due to a rag fire! The Boy Scouts were refinishing the benches with linseed oil. At the end of the day, they threw the rags in a bucket in the corner. The rags combusted that night and burned the place down. When it was rebuilt...

Tekton Aviation Tool Kit Prototype Release

I kow nothing about aviation mechanics; is this set well-suited for the small, private plane? It seems like it would be pretty decent for a Cessna or Cub?

    ZMotorsports Shop Projects 2.0

It reminded me I need to replace my slide out seals..... damn it. I can't drive by a Camping World without having PTSD for you.

https://www.amazon.com/Astro-Tools-78301-Ratcheting-Sockets/dp/B01JBNFS6C/?tag=atomicindus08-20 I bought one of these today for $34+tax. I'm thinking it might be useful in tight places or on smaller fasteners where the longer ratchets are unnecessary.

Olsa Heat Shrink Tubing for Hand Tools

You can buy that heat shrink in numerous patterns under a million different Chinese names on Amazon. It's commonly used on fishing rods (primarily saltwater).

    New Icon Bigger Meme Tool

I like the set (mainly due to the SAE and MM sockets), but I don't know that I have a use for it considering I already own equivalents, and I can't find an application that warrants taking all that with me.

Grease gun dripping oil, what to do?

My garage gets so hot that my grease guns ooze from every conceivable place. I bought this and mounted a couple of the big HF magnets to it and stuck it to the back of my toolbox. Best money I've spent. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D4QF5FZN?tag=atomicindus08-20

That aluminum looks great! I'm surprised how clean it cut.

    The Bicycle (Specialty) Tools Thread

I'm a White Lightning guy. I've tried wet lubricants, but here in the desert it just made for messy chains. Even worst on my BMX chains on a dusty track.

    Ratchet Straps?

The PowerTye are very nice units. The webbing is really soft and pliable compared to others I've had. Even better, they are actually Made in USA vs the other brands on Amazon that try to fool you into thinking they are Made in USA. PowerTye has killer sales on their website from time to time...

    Milwaukee M18 jump pack

Cool unit, but far too large to throw under the seat like a standard lithium jump pack. I can see how this would be great for a mobile mechanic or even for a shop tech.

They had them available for order way back then. I think the expected lead time back then was a few weeks.

I ordered them from Summit back in January for $63. They are supposedly shipping tomorrow, but I've had that date pushed back probably 5 times in the last 6 months.

    Torque wrench storage

I keep mine in the top drawer, upright in some 3D printed holders. The cases are a pain in the *** and take up too much space. I'm more likely to use them when they are easily accessible.

    Show off your.... Carlyle Tools!!!

Unfortunately, I've semingly been there a lot lately. I drive by a lot of other stores to go to that NAPA. I was commenting here a couple of weeks ago about that new Carlyle display. It's my favorite auto parts store; I've been going there since I was in high school. Matt has been there...

Air Compressor 12V vs 110V "portable"

You need to consider your uses. My truck and toy hauler have tires that are 80psi+. My old Puma 12v compressor is badass for filling up big offroad tires, but I would consider it "high volume, low pressure"...
