    Electrolysis for PAINT removal?

If you have any rust under the paint, the electrolysis process will push the paint off. There does not have to be a lot of rust, just some. If the part you are derusting is fairly old, there will probably be enough rust everywhere to remove all the paint. The most commonly recommended...

Ok screwdriver geniuses, what is this?

My wife bought me a three piece set that looked very similar about thirty years ago. No markings and I don't remember a brand name. I do remember the package had "Forever Screwdrivers" on it. They are not fine tools, but any time I need to use a screwdriver out in the yard I reach for one of...

How do you trick a garage door chain to the close position?

Sounds like your chain's expected home position is off. I would take the chain off and do a fresh install according to the installation manual. I had a similar problem with my belt drive opener and the only way to fix it was a fresh install.

Why is my sub panel still live?

Even if it is ghost voltage you need to determine where it is coming from. Does the power to the main and the line to the sub run in the same conduit?

looking to buy this compressor from Northern Tool

Burnt C6 I don't have the compressor you referenced, I bought it's big brother: 5 HP and 80 gallons. So far it has done everything very well. It has a large oil sightglass, so keeping track of the oil level is easy. It is set up to make draining and filling the crankcase easy. My 5 HP makes 175...

Building a shop in Texas. Advice needed.

I had two nasty ice storms at my place in SW DFW last winter. My property faces SE so the detached 3 car and the 1200 sq ft shop door all face SE, which works well, the sun melts the ice off the concrete in front of them quicker than any other orientation.

Help me identify compression fitting on air compressor

That pipe thread is probably NPS, not NPT. Straight thread, not tapered. Since the threads are not tapered, they will be larger diameter on the end than a NPT fitting.

Drywalling... Does doing the ceiling first really matter?

If you have to get access to pipes or wiring, remove sheetrock as necessary, repair, repeat. It's just sheetrock, you're not texturing it, are you?

    Cooling a 125 degree Houston Garage / insulation/ AC/ exhaust etc

I lived in Pearland south of Houston and had the same problems: 900 sq ft detached garage, sheetrocked, but no insulation. First thing I did was bring in a contractor to blow cellulose in the walls and ceiling (R42). Noticable difference! Max temp down about twenty degrees and the temperature...

    CrossFit in your garage?

My son converted his two car garage into a Crossfit gym he teaches out of. He installed a wall braced lifting rack with a jillion rubber coated plates, and covered the entire floor with horse stall mats from Tractor Supply. The garage has twelve foot ceiling so he was able to install free rings...

    My Wrought Iron Project Build

Look at the archetectural recycling places. That is the only place I have found real wrought iron in the last forty years. Expect it to be priced like gold.

2 Car Garage budget makeover... updates over time

To take that paint off, invest in a quart of Soygel paint remover. Put it on with a disposable paintbrush, cover with saran wrap for a few hours, then either hose or scrape off the paint. The Soygel has no fumes and will not eat your skin. Yes, aircraft paint stripper works faster, but that...

    Hold me back guys

My Dad bought that cabinet set and he wore out all three of the tools. I still have the cabinet. They were good looking tools, but I remember that they weren't all that good. I don't miss them. Use them for displays.

    Pinch Me, it it real?

Just got my August issue of Mustang Monthly. They gave you the cover and the feature article. Killer. Awesome, awesome work Sir. I just passed through Seattle and saw a lot full of Tesla's, I would rather spend the money on one of your conversions.
