Epoxy Coat bubbles, What the hell!?

And if you do prime (and you really should) do so later in the day when air and slab temps are dropping. Cooling temps = less air expansion = will help mitigate the air bubbles in coating. Should you get some bubbles.. if you can't feel them when running your hand over the coating, just ignore...

Need advice on epoxy coat estimate

Need to emphasize that the concrete does not need to be "Bone Dry" for all coatings. Our BondTite 1101 can be applied to a damp substrate, damp but not moist, so no standing water. Depending on weather and other factors a concrete floor can start to look dry just a few hours after being...

    epoxy floor

Wait 28 days, and then profile. To profile you can use chemicals or mechanical grinding, most of our pro contractors will grind, but most of our DIY clients acid etch. Search here for "Wolverine" and you'll see DIY clients that have used the industrial grinders, and a few who have just used...

    Polyurethane top clearcoat over epoxy???

Just speaking for our products (although this most likely applies to most)... Yes, the epoxy, even a 100% solids one, is UV reactive. We've improved a lot in this area, but still over time an epoxy coating will color shift due to UV exposure. Our polyurethane clear coat (EnduraShield 2254) by...

    Quick poll on color choice

Almost by definition if you have a full broadcast of flakes (broadcast "to rejection) the underlying epoxy is completely covered. Say pink epoxy, with a full broadcast of black flakes when finished you wouldn't see a peek of pink. In the real world not every falke adheres, and there will be...

Is there a big difference in flakes between the different suppliers

Torginal is our supplier also. We offer and price flakes more as customer service. I understand there are some import (Chinese?) flakes out there, but have no experience with them.

    Metallic Epoxies

Nice floors! Make that "Fantastic floors!" Love the wine one. If we could guarantee that DIY floors would look like yours we'd be offering that in a big way!

    Metallic Epoxies

We've mulled over the idea of offering this for DIY but decided against it because the results are unpredictable until one has a few jobs under their belt. It's not that the process is that complicated, but there's a bit more artistry and technique involved than most DIY applicators are going...

    My Wolverine Floor

Again, I'm not commenting on this particular project directly, clearly it's been beat to death. We did have a DIY job that went seriously south. Talking with the client it sounded like he did everything right, when recounting the application it was almost as if he went even beyond our detailed...

    My Wolverine Floor

Here what the OP final word on this was: Stuff happens once in awhile. Pros have jobs go sideways and sometimes can't figure out what happened. I have my thoughts, but can't definitively say for sure, so I won't. Wolverine has high QC standards - and they are very, very, very strict and...

Why to Epoxy Coat and Legacy HD's websites make this so difficult?

Flakes are pretty standard, words aren't. Except "FULL". For full coverage, that is if you have pink epoxy and broadcast enough black flakes that when finished you won't see any pink at all, that's going to be 0.15 pounds per square foot, or 150 lbs. for 1,000 ft2. Now it seems logical that...

Epoxy in home - a few issues...

True, xylene is more aggressive, but it's also more toxic (able to cause nerve damage) and unpleasant to deal with. Most of our coating contractors use xylene, but they're trained in proper handling, have ventilation equipment etc. Denatured alcohol will take a few minutes longer to get the...

    Chip Color question (Hockeytown)

My suggestion would be to trust your opinion. Taste in color is pretty subjective, and the only opinion that matters is your's - and maybe your spouse. Once in awhile a client will order a color combo that will look like clown vomit, when that happens I'll gently suggest a variation or send...

Epoxy in home - a few issues...

If most of the floor cured, but other parts didn't, odds are it was a mix issue - or more precisely an under-mix issue. We would not recommend that you simply re-coat any area where the underlying coat did not properly cure. One problem that can arise is that the uncured epoxy may "leach" the...

Best flooring option for British classics that mark their spots!

Now we're talking about something near and dear to my heart! Old British rolling and leaking metal! I have an Austin Healey that still leaks like a sieve despite special sealing bearings etc. Fortunately our coatings, especially our EnduraShield clear coat, do a fine job standing up to oil...

    fixing cracks in concrete

If it a wide fissure you might want to consider an epoxy binder mixed with sand. A one gallon kit of our's (TrowelEase) mixed with 50 lbs. of sand will fill a 6' x 6' area about 1" deep. It's very durable, used for repairing loading docks etc. For smaller cracks, and ones that may expand or...

    Need some color opinions!

I think dark floors have a very luxurious, but that comes with one big caveat... the space must have very good lighting! And it will show wear and tear more easily. For most applications a lighter color is the best choice.
