After the weld, the neck was not parallel at all with the dynamic jaw because of the shrinkage of the Ni55 core. So just clamp it into a vertical mill in the correct orientation, and take a vertical mill to the vise.

It isn't enough to simply do the friction welding. There is also a post-weld induction heat treat, which extends beyond the weld joint. This is usually done to reduce residual stress in the part and to reduce grain boundary formation at the HAZ. You can see this step in the video.
