Extra Large Tank on Small Compressor?

That 20 gallon compressor has been chugging along in my garage for 20 years now. It was used when I got it. At this point, it owes me nothing. The oem cooling fan broke off 5 years ago when I moved to this house. I wired a box fan to blow on the compressor head whenever the compressor is...

Extra Large Tank on Small Compressor?

What is your issue with using the propane tank? Propane tanks typically run upwards of 200 psi. Unlike a used air tank, I am confident it will not have rust issues inside from water.

Extra Large Tank on Small Compressor?

I have a 20 gallon direct drive compressor in my garage. It handles most work I do - impact tools and the like. But I have an air hoist hanging from the rafters for hoisting things into the loft that is an air hog. I can get two or three lifts out of the hoist before the tank is down below a...

    I need a grease gun

I picked up the LocknLube LNL151 with the extended nozzle. Thanks all. $80 for a grease gun seemed nuts, but just couldn't justify the $150 for the Dewalt. I've had a few **** cheapies through the years, hope this one does a lot better.

    %*#!ing Wasp

I have done my research on them. I have been working on making my property less desirable to them. My current concern is just keeping them out of the garage. Trying to identify paths for them to get in and blocking them.

    %*#!ing Wasp

So... We moved out to the country about 5 years ago. The house we bought had been vacant for about a year. The place was INVESTED with paper wasps. I have spent the last five years terminating these things. Have really knocked back their numbers. Found them behind the plastic shutters, on...

    I need a grease gun

I am a home enthusiast with a few older vehicles to lube up. I bought a HF cheapie and it didn't last too long. It gave me plenty of grief along the way. I want to buy a nice one now. I have Dewalt 20v tools, so I am thinking about the DCGG571B. I also see LocknLube is another good choice...

    PPE/Earmuff storage ideas wanted

I have a cabinet dedicated to PPE. I have the gloves, glasses, and muffs hanging from hooks on the inside of the cabinet door. The respirator is in a plastic container (one of them ones for shoes) on one of the shelves to keep the dust out of it (in a cabinet in a plastic tote). The welding...

I want to cut some braces out.

Found the truss drawings. Also, the walls are indeed balloon framed with 2x6 studs on 16" centers sheathed with 7/16" OSB.

I want to cut some braces out.

I'll see about posting up some pictures. Also, will look in my records and see if I still have the truss installation instructions. Thanks guys.

I want to cut some braces out.

I have a 30x40x12 garage with scissor trusses. I balloon framed the gable end walls to meet the wind code in my area. The framer put braces on the lower cord about 10' from each of the side walls. I would like to remove the lower cord braces on one side of the garage. My understanding is the...

How much of a ****** will it be to get this vise off? (with Photos of hitch-style bench retrofit)

That metal on the vise 'crumbled' because it is cast. Cast doesn't weld well. I had to remove one from a table once. I hit the table several times with a large hammer around the vise and it cracked the welds at the vise.

    Funnel/greasy item storage?

I store most of them in a bucket with lid. Funnels for storage in the older cars are in a coffee can with lid.

What Steel To Keep On-Hand At Home

Depends on what you are doing. I scrounge most of my materials. I build my projects based on what I have laying around.

    I need a 6x7 Door.

I found the custom option website for Home Depot and found the door to be $800. I can buy a 8x7 for $425. It's hard to justify spending almost double for a smaller door. I did a little YouTube research and found out it's fairly simple to cut a door down. I'm going to look at the door in the...

    I need a 6x7 Door.

We don't have Menards here. I checked Lowe's and Home Depot, neither of them list a 6x7 door. I have not gone into the store yet and asked if they can special order one.

    I need a 6x7 Door.

So.... I have a dumb problem. When I built my shop about 5 years ago, I put a 6x7 roll up door on the back of the building for the lawn mower. I really hate that door, it's one of those storage unit type doors. I want to put in a regular sectional door. Problem is, 6x7 is a custom size. I...

    Vapor Barrier?!

Two of the room's walls are interior and two are exterior. The exterior is OSB with vinyl siding. The interior walls in the room will be drywall, and the walls on the other side will be OSB. I plan to weld and grind in the room, so I want to use 5/8 drywall for the fire retardant values. I...

    Vapor Barrier?!

I am building a 12x18 room in my 30x40 garage. The room has a ceiling at 9' and the building has 12' walls. I plan to insulate the room and heat it while using the room during the winter. One day I might condition the room year round, but that will not be for some time. I plan to insulate...
