Quality of Work - The TV Shows

I saw that last weekend! I was hungover as hell so I thought it was just my eyes... I didn't believe they would actually put that **** on TV! And I totally agree about the other guy - Rick Bacon. I really enjoy watching him work.

Quality of Work - The TV Shows

I enjoy the work in Xtreme 4x4 (although not into 4x4s at all) and usually watch Muscle Car as well. However, Courtney Hansen single handedly destroys that block of programming.

Fair price for hydrostatic test / cert

Thanks for that. I went to a place on that list (conveniently right across the street from my friend's shop). $17. I told the guy there about the price I got from AirGas. He said that they shipped them to someone to have them tested, and the huge price was to cover the cost of shipping...

Fair price for hydrostatic test / cert

I don't need to have that particular bottle back for any reason, but with the outdated cert, no one will take it in on exchange without charging to test (and AirGas evidently wants $400 for the test). There are a couple other suppliers around here that I'll check with. I agree. There had to be...

Fair price for hydrostatic test / cert

So I bought a welder off of CL last year and it came with a 80cf bottle. I feel like a got a pretty good deal on it, even though the certification on the bottle was out of date (which I didn't know until yesterday). I ran out of gas recently, so I took the bottle to my friends speed shop and...

top coating for steel work bench

You guys are starting to convince me to leave it bare. It will need some cleaning though. It already has a fair amount of rust on it (it came from a metal yard "drop" pile), so I'll have to see if I can get it all cleaned up first. I was a bit excited about the POR15 stuff because, as the web...

top coating for steel work bench

I've never used POR15. I went on their web site and it looks promising, for the legs and frame of the table, if nothing else. They had some pictures and such of applying it with a brush. I would prefer to spray it with a paint gun. Can this be done with POR15 (would I need to add a thinner or...

top coating for steel work bench

I'm getting ready to finish making a steel work bench for my garage. I was planning on shooting the frame and legs with a simple coat of spray paint, but I would like to cover the top with something more durable. The top is a piece of 5/16" plate. The table will be used mostly for auto work-...

    HF Engine Stand ?

I've got a couple of them and have never had any problems. They've held several fully dressed engines for me (some for several months at a time). I would definitely recommend the 4-wheeled one over the 3 wheeler. Otherwise, like I said, no complaints here.

What do you use to clean your tools?

After every use I wipe my tools down with a clean(ish) rag. If something's really bad I might shoot the rag with some brake cleaner first, but I try to limit that to keep some rust protection.
