Lift installation recommendations in Northern Michigan / Traverse City

No idea what the spec is, but I know that between the cracks and the control cuts that I could not site the posts per manufacturer specs in a location that works with the layout of the barn.

Lift installation recommendations in Northern Michigan / Traverse City

I guess I need to look a little more seriously at going this route. The one concrete guy (out of 7 I contacted) that I got to come out has stopped responding. The one lift installer (out of 5) that initially seemed interested has stopped responding. While I might be able to talk myself into...

Lift installation recommendations in Northern Michigan / Traverse City

The quote included "Truck adapters" which I assume are what you are referring to as the stack adapter kit, or no? I'm thinking about have some other electrical work done at the same time which is why I figuring as high as $1500. The overhead lighting is a hodge-podge mess, partly of my own...

Lift installation recommendations in Northern Michigan / Traverse City

Contacted seven concrete places. Actually heard back from one. $2500 to cut and pour two 48"x48"x12" reinforced pads in the existing slab. Seems fair. I would like to get at least one more quote but I guess no one else is interested in the work. Contacted five lift places. Heard back from three...

Lift installation recommendations in Northern Michigan / Traverse City

Thanks for the suggestion. I reached out the four nearest lift service vendors listed there, the nearest of which is 150 miles away... and have already heard back from one, plus the place I found through Google. Neither will act as a general contractor but both will spec, sell and install a lift...

Lift installation recommendations in Northern Michigan / Traverse City

Fair enough. I guess it is just more leverage and weight than I would be willing to make a mistake with (... and things are never easier than I think lol).

Lift installation recommendations in Northern Michigan / Traverse City

I guess it depends on the lift. I am looking at something along the lines of a Bendpak 10 AP... I don't think my wife and I are manhandling a set of 12' tall 600+lb columns.

Lift installation recommendations in Northern Michigan / Traverse City

4 post... thought about it. Takes up too much space when not in use. Because of the layout of the barn it would have to be offset or angled which would make it a PITA to pull into or out of, and would likewise prevent me from being able to pull through the barn. Not a DIY project for me. I...

Lift installation recommendations in Northern Michigan / Traverse City

Looking to have a 2 post lift installed into an existing 30x40 pole building northwest of Traverse City. Residential. Really what I am looking for is someone to handle the entire project... spec a lift, spec and contract the concrete work, spec and contract the electrical work and install the...

Could have used that when I did front & rear differential fluid service on my F250 last weekend. The plastic handled wood chisel I used survived but was not the ideal tool.

Is tekton still sold at Meijer?

Honestly, years ago the first time I ever heard of Tekton was when I encountered the brand at Meijer. Knowing nothing at all abouth the brand, I figured if Meijer was selling it then it must be hot garbage. It has taken me years to discard that first impression lol.

How accurate can this torque wrench shortcut be?

My understanding is that those are very accurate. Just can be a PITA to use and impractical for tight areas.

    Moderately priced screwdriver set opinions?

Last two sets I purchased were Tekton Hard Handle Black Oxide. Feel good & fit well but the black oxide shafts rust incredibly easily. I have to keep them wiped down with oil. Looks like they may not even offer the black oxide in a "standard" screwdriver site anymore, wouldn't surprise me if...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Picked these two up off Craigslist. Really happy with the condition on the RemLine even though it is missing the lock entirely and I think the hasp is a (poor) replacement. Mechanically everything is square and functions well. Cosmetically, there is some light surface rust on the bottom and...

They don't seem to agree that it is defective. Per their customer support "...the performance of the ratchet is not affected".

You were right, they were very responsive. Long story short, I'll have to eat return shipping but will otherwise get a full refund.

Gateway pliers for the Knipex brand?

Pliers wrench for sure. Cobras are also nice, but not game changers like the pliers wrench.
