I have 3/8" Milwaukee mid-torque and use it with and 3/8->1/2 adapter for lug nuts. Zips the lugs off a Superduty and a 14K equipment trailer just fine... but I can also tell it "hooks up" better with a 3/8" socket, just feels snappier in the hand.

I use cribs like this. They are very strong and stable and I really have no concerns being under the vehicle on cribs. It is getting the vehicle on to the cribs that can be sketchy.
