    Toro mower at HD

I don't know why he would have an ulterior motive. We actually were there to buy a Zero-Turn rider. We already have a self-propelled. Life expectancy of the batteries for the Toro is said to be 3 years. Glad you like your equipment. It is a whole different world than just a few years ago.

    Toro mower at HD

Toro dealer told us that Toro uses exact same deck for the electric and gas mowers. And that blade noise makes the electrics just as loud as the gas machines. Replacement battery for that machine is well over $200

    Bored at the dealership today

This is a fascinating thread. Even more so considering the opening post that kicked it off. So much of what mechanics do can’t be done by a robot. I took me years to get to the point where I could afford to turn down work. No, I am not in the trades. Working in a dealership, or a chain has got...

    In floor 6000lb car/bike lift

Thanks for posting that so many years ago. Came here because of another thread. That is one very cool job. I figure I could do this, now that I have seen your work. Of course, I have about 50 dozen other things to finish first.

When you cross thread that F1 wheel nut and loses the race

I recall somewhere (on GJ?) reading about how a guy used tire weights attached to an impact socket to get a really tight nut off a wheel. Picture showed a socket that had reached the size of a baseball. So I imagine that massive F1 socket has significant weight to create mega-torque.

    Flat/Flush Finish Washer

I made something similar to that from some type of nylon or delrin (etc.) rod. Borrowed a small lathe from a friend. I guess you could do aluminum pretty easily...once you had/borrowed such a lathe.

    Need a very specific bolt.

Visit a machine shop? Maybe they can weld a bolt head onto an Allen screw, etc. Or, is there room to put flat washer/s or some shim/s under a bolt that is too long for your application?

I think everyone has a soft spot for some thing. In fact, when we are born there is a soft spot in our head. My sister complains about my non-sequiturs. I guess I have a soft spot....

    ideas for sealing a roof

Urethane sealant. 3M products: 5200 and 4000 are my favorites. OSI QuadMax is quite good also. DO NOT buy anything by OSI other than the QuadMax.

Large area of adhesive removal required, need the right "tools"

I don't know that product, but 3M has more solutions to paint and adhesion problems than almost anyone would ever need.

Anyone ever go back to basics? Simpler/Cheaper tools

I have gotten to the point where i can afford really nice tools. Then i realize that a lot of things available today were not around 25 years ago. CNC for home user, 3D printer, battery powered tools. And a lot of the newer stuff can be had at all kinds of price points. Interesting.
