The other simple one I've done is to use pegboard with 1/4" bolts poked in from the back. The spacing is about perfect for 3/8" drive. For some of the 1/2" stuff, I just used Masonite as a divider since the spacing on 1" pegboard is to small for bigger sockets.

You can buy the short screws. They are the ones that come with GFCI outlets. Or do you need shorter?

I bought the same kit. The QC on the dial indicators is not great. Some of them did not move smoothly, open it up before you leave to make sure you got a good one.

I think the quality is probably the same between them all. The Dewalt Pilot point helps a little to prevent the point from walking, but probably not worth 2x price. They are all disposable bit sets, buy the cheap ones
