New collection: a taxonomy of hammers

Hey Jake - Please take a look at this hammer and let me know your thoughts. The only thing I can tell you is it was my grandfathers, so the latest it dates is from the early 1900s. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/mining-equipment-and-tools.506724/#post-9871638

    Mining Equipment and Tools

Here are the picks. The one in the back was grandfathers and is unmarked. The one in the front will set the Plomb aficionados crazy. It is a Plomb T.M. Co. pick from the very early 1900s. In 40+ years collecting Plomb tools, I never saw another, and the (now defunct) Plomb museum didn't...

    Drill Doctor, Which Model?

My experience too. I found a 750x at an estate sale a couple of weeks ago for $17. It took me a while to figure out how to properly setup the bit, but once I learned how, I can sharpen a bit quickly. I had a lot of fun cleaning up my drill bits. Too bad you aren't closer OP, I'd sharpen...

Those Proto rats are bulletproof. You can abuse them and they will keep working. When they wear out, a repair kit will make them like new.

Have you ever bought from Alibaba or ali express? Looking for source for pipe and connectors for dust system.

I made two purchases on Ali express. One was a bluetooth adapter and the other was some adapters. The adapters were only ok, but the bluetooth was a joke. My friends said it sounded like I was in a wind tunnel. When I accessed the menu on the bluetooth, it started speaking to me in Chinese...

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

I worked at a dairy in the processing plant for three months. There was a machine that formed plastic bags by chopping and melting the end. There was a maintenance man in his 30s who was missing the fourth and fifth finger on his left hand. He lost them pushing plastic through the machine...

    Amazon - Wera 05020103001 6004 Joker M, self-setting spanner, 13-16 mm (1/2" - 5/8") $33.74

I had a wrench of the same design made back in the 1950s or 60s. I wouldn't give you $2 for another.

    Direct tools reconditioned sales Ryobi

Just received my $30 weed eater. It works great, but is a tad noisy. The snow blower is interesting. The head is all plastic so it won't rust. The motor spins at a high RPM. Obviously I can't test it until winter.

    Direct tools reconditioned sales Ryobi

It's always good to check with HD to see if they have a deal on Ryobi. Yesterday, I almost bought a Ryobi battery weed whacker from DTO, for $120, but I found a similar one for $109 at HD. I didn't pull the trigger, and today, I saw DTO's refurb ad and found a gas powered weed whacker for $30...

    Workflow Management Software

Really good advice Fred! I have one more to add, although this applies to larger software systems - If their are "users groups" it usually means the software is difficult to use and the company is not responsive to user's issues. Go to the user group meeting to learn what problems the users...
