I'm probably beating a dead horse at this point, but wanted to add this item I found in the 1969 Sears Craftsman catalog showing that the larger Micrometer set would ship directly from St. James, Minnesota - home of Scherr-Tumico (now Sharpline)

One more vote for the Scherr-Tumico connection. This is another photo from the Craftsman 'Using Precision Measuring Tools' booklet.

The last Craftsman caliper I didn't mention from the original catalog post (other than the Sears ones) is the Craftsman 4028. There is no manufacturer mark on this one, but it is marked 'Made in U.S.A' If you know the manufacturer of this caliper, please let me know.

I have not been able to find a Sears 40256 made in Sweden from the first post, but I did find this MG Tool Company Swedish Precision Tools catalog from archive.org that would make some sense due to the Italian 40257 MG Tool caliper. This is just a guess though.

So while I still don't know for sure what 'DJ' or 'D.J.' stands for, I'd say it's a pretty good bet that it's probably Scherr-Tumico since Mauser also made tools for Scherr-Tumico. I don't have a Craftsman 40253 from this era, but I do have a 40257 which is a slightly later version also made in Italy. This one is marked 'MG'. Here is the MG Tool 6001, Made in Italy. I still don't know who the actual manufacturer is for this so if you have any idea, please do let me know.

Yup, totally understand - and this is by no means an attempt at disparaging the list or it's maker. Just trying to shed some light on the actual manufacturers, and hopefully gain some insight into what 'DJ' / 'D.J.' means or stands for.
