First post: Newbie Oil Furnace questions

Wow I knew it was old but from what I know of Lennox equipment the year it was made is usually on the serial number so that could mean 1935 or 1937. Something that old the year in the serial number thing might not apply.

Yes a couple gallons of offroad diesel fuel will let you test it without having 200 gallons delivered.

http://www.buildingcenter.org/content/hvac-production-dateage Here is a website that might give you an age on the trane unit if you can get the serial number, as was said before take a very close look at the heat exchangers all the parts of both units are replaceable, the question is only is it...

First post: Newbie Oil Furnace questions

Make sure there's fuel in the tank before calling for a service tho, at least once a year I get a call from someone my furnace don't work. I get there and they are out of propane, or there's a gas company lock on the meter. Oil is a little different but the full service can't be done without...

Suggest a home thermostat with a remote sensor

Honeywells prestige thermostat does all that and more, no bonus points for cheap though, on the plus side there is no monthly subscription for the internet features.

Heat Pump Fan keeps shutting down.

You shouldn't need to rewire anything to run just the fan, there's a switch on the thermostat for that. Did the problem start after you rewired it?

    Ecobee thermostat issues.

Ok the picture helps, I thought your aquastat was different with a seprate transformer. It looks like your going to need a fan center relay, having trouble loading images now but google has lots of images of them and I'll try to put one up later.

converting a couple natural gass heaters to propane

Yeah I've converted hundreds of appliances too and agree with brewcheif. Higher number = smaller hole. Just look at a number sized drill index, a 52 orifice is the same size as a number 52 drill.

    Ecobee thermostat issues.

Your tstat is looking for what would be labeled R W C on a forced air system. If you have a multimeter check your 24 volt transformer one lead to ground and the other to the transformer should read 24 volts that would be R. The other terminal should read 0 volts and would be C. Do the same check...

    Heating Oil Tank Sizes

55 gallon drums are cheap and plentiful, you'd be filling it more often but not losing much floor space. With a .75 gph nozzle 55 gallons should get you between 70 and 75 hours of run time, so depending on how much you out there it might be enough.

    Heating Oil Tank Sizes

If its not heated inside all the time, condensation inside the tank will cause problems. Putting the tank outside solves that problem and the wasted space problem too. Wrap the fuel line in heat tape and turn it on a couple hours before you go out there takes care of fuel gel. If you have time...

Modine PA50AB - Why am I afraid to use it?

Yes that is an indication of some sort of problem if not all of the burners light by themselves. You should get it checked by a professional HVAC company, make sure you check on their background too there's lots of people out there pretending to be professionals.

Heat pump kicks on and then off after 1 min

When is the last time you had the heat pump serviced? How old is the unit? Goodmans from 1 to 8 years old will sometimes get holes in the evaporator coils from formic corrosion. As long as its still under warranty Goodman has been covering the coil replacements but the refrigerant and the...

Modine PA50AB - Why am I afraid to use it?

As was already stated, there SHOULD be a thermalcouple that shuts off the gas in the event the pilot goes out. As long as it hasn't been changed or modifed in any way, I've seen some strange and unsafe things done to furnaces. There is conversion kits available to change the pilot to hot surface...

    Exhaust fans

I service the HVAC equipment at a county rescue, they have about a dozen ambulances in the garage and they hook up a vent right to the exhaust pipe. It's held in place with a magnet and its on a track it follows the truck till it exits. I'm not sure on the brand or a whole lot of anything about...
