Barndominium construction costs. I'm I crazy, or is this a "I don't want to do it" quote? Any responses welcome.

The $1.26M is with cabinets, plumbing fixtures, the ICF, doors, flooring, etc.

Yes, that's what I'm looking at. 3k unfinished shop, with 3k finished above. The quote does not include the flooring, or countertops or plumbing fixtures. If it was $100 for the shop and $200 for the living space, that sounds really good. Trouble is, that he said its more like $210/sq ft, for...

Currently, I'm renting a shop 20 minutes from my house. It's functional, but it isn't mine and it's too far away. I've been blessed enough to acquire a 2 acre parcel 3 minutes from my house (or a 5 minute bicycle ride). My plan was to build a shop on the land and deal with what else to do with...

Gregor, your relationship change saddens me. While you've offered us a window into your world, it's just that; a window. None of us know what happens behind closed doors in another's house. I hope you tap into the resiliency you've displayed so often here and ride these turbulent waves out. I...

Below 265 SQ/FT Tiny Tokyo Shop

I've been away from your thread for a while, and I'm glad to see you're still at it. My perception is you're really embracing the Japanese ideal of quality. Some make the "best" plane. Some make the "best" watch. You make the "best" budget CNC! Thank you for bringing us along on your journeys!

    This is not a Torx.

Those jokers at VW. . . I have an '03 Beetle that I swapped the motor on. IIRC, I needed 5 types of tools, ignoring the myriad sizes. It was ridiculous. Phillips, torx, triple square, 6 point, 12 point, maybe etorx too? It was nuts. So yeah, VW will be on torx plus ASAP.

    Huge powder coat oven?

Any reason you couldn't use a used commercial refrigerator (walk in) as the box, and heat with gas or electric? They're already insulated metal boxes, and they're modular. Just spitballing here.

Taking apart a 4 post lift? Hard or doable?

I moved one with an engine hoist, floor jack and furniture dollies. It took about 3 hours to get it all on the trailer. If I were to do it again, I could probably knock it down to 2 hours. Only take apart the things you need to. It's a one person job, for sure.
