    Grease on soft grip ratchet

You know that plasti-dip or similar stuff that you dip metal tool handles into to "rubberize" them? I need some "hard plastic dip" or something that I can dip my soft-grip handles into to harden them into hard plastic. Is there anything like this out there? I also need to learn the art of...

Anybody else hate that all Snap On tools are going to soft handles?

Soft-Grip anything has always been my nemesis. I never understood the move to soft-grip on everything from pencils and pens to screwdrivers and ratchets. Also pliers and the handles on hammers, etc. It's like I have a phobia, and I get jitters down the spine just touching them - similar to...

    Grey Pneumatic swivel impact sockets...

Good to know. I'll go ahead an open an impact account in 3/8 then. What kind of "non-detergent oil" should I use to coat my new chromoly DUO socket set with? I'm thinking something with less carcinogens than motor oil, since they'll be used with bare hands mostly.

Which is why we disconnect the ground terminal first, then you can touch anything and everything while doing the positive side, without needing insulated tools (unless your trying to hit the other terminal with your tool).

    GearWrench Impact Sockets

Yes, I called today to verify that even the DUO sockets are full chromoly. I prefer how the Grey P's are skinnier, for a longer part of the socket in the smaller sizes. The GW only tapers down at the end, while the Grey P's are tapered about half its length. The Grey P's seem like they'd...

    Wera Warranty *****!

I wonder how Amazon will handle Wera warranty issues (after the return time-limit has lapsed). I just bought my first Wera products, that I PLAN on breaking. I planned on using these on impact guns, and what sold me on these were, "Lifetime Warranty, German Engineered" :( At least I'll...

What tool brands do you own?

Hand Tools: Snap-On (all hard plastic handle) Craftsman (sockets and wrenches) Grey Pneumatic (all 1/2 drive impactual sockets) Harbor Freights Wiha (more hard plastic handled driving tools) SK (one 7/16" combination wrench that is old) Crescent (one 4" adjustable wrench) Gerber Strider Buck...

    Help me with a decision

I called GP and was told those DUO sets are fully chrome molybdenum, for what it's worth.

    Grey Pneumatic swivel impact sockets...

I called GP and they said NO. They told me to (pay shipping fees and) return my purchases to ToolTopia and pay a lot more from an authorized retailer, or they'll have zero warranty at all. What a bummer. If there's any chance a DIFFERENT "authorized" dealer would be willing to help, should...

    Your Single Most Expensive Socket

Mine is aluminum, and it was like $35 plus tax or so. It's stupid, but I use it a lot: Jesse BMW OFW12 Oil Filter Socket This socket fits ALL old and new BMW spin on oil filters. Use your spark plug wrench to spin filter off and on. This "cool tool" is created with a computerized 16 tool...

    Grey Pneumatic warranty

I really like my DUO sets in 1/2" Metric and Standard. I just ordered the same in 1/4" so all sizes are covered without buying into the 3/8 drive sets.

Does that include their "DUO" sockets as well?

Your thoughts on least or never used 9mm socket and wrench

^ this. The only time I recall using 9mm was for Shimano's internal hub: shifter cable stopper bolt. Only an open ended 9mm (two flats) for one side and a 9mm socket or wrench for the nut.

Good to know, I remember the old trays came cracked new, and people still used them to organize tools in their boxes. I just picked up a Grey DUO set, and the case is the nicest I've ever seen. I was planning on just throwing away the case, like jfcasey does, but when I actually saw it I knew...

Oil Filter Socket Sets, which one?

It wasn't too bad on my gen 2 S after I unbolted the overflow reservoir and pulled it to the side, then I was able to use a 1/2" dr. 27mm shallow socket on a wobble extension, but probably didn't even need the wobble. I had it on there hand tight until my new socket set came in the mail...

I know the money is for the tools, but seeing nice tools in a thin plastic tray like that really put me off. That's why I won't buy Snap-On tools anymore. Grey Pneumatics' cases are for actual use, not just throw away packaging.

What is the country of origin of these sets? Are they made in China or Taiwan? Thanks:

Wow, sweet, Dave.R, thanks for that information. Are the CR-V sockets subject to rusting like the Chromoly ones? Should I keep these hefty CR-V IMPACT sockets slathered in some oil? Or do you warranty for rust, so I never have to worry about such trivial things? This is my first purchase...

Oil Filter Socket Sets, which one?

Thanks for the replies. That video shows how they needed the shallow oil-filter-socket on that example really clearly. They also said to never use anything like an adjustable wrench, Super Sport :eek2:

Just ordered this "little" set of deep impacts to finish off my SAE sizes. Decided to stick with TEKTON for 1/2" drive SAE and they'll be the only red colored boxes/trays in my drawers. It's cool they match each other with no redundancy. (includes the elusive 1 3/16" size too!) Too bad these...
