    The repurposing thread

I actually have more stuff than I would need. I mean there is ultimate, and then there is excessive! I know this is is GJ and everything is in excess but just trying to see if there are any ideas on something else to do with stuff like this outside of the obvious.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Ford garage - 40X60X20

Took this 16 foot long conference table that my GF's work was throwing out and turned it into a smaller counter height table.

    The repurposing thread

So I have a **** load of Lynx Grills storage equipment. A bunch of nice drawers and cabinet door/drawer combos. Debating on building a full stainless workbench/storage of just selling but I know I won't get a good price for any of it. Seems kind of frivolous to make a workbench using $4k worth...

    Black & Decker Workmate

Sounds about right, junior high school. The other cool one/connection is my brother got my Dad's wood working bench (the big wooden ones with the various vices and dog holes). My brother uses it all the time to build guitars. I saw it this weekend when I was visiting him and that reminded me of...

    Black & Decker Workmate

Here is my 79-001 that was my Dad's. Me and my Dad worked on many a project as a kid on that thing. Whenever I open and close it up, it still has the squeaky sounds that I remember.

Moving Compressor Outside - Need Input

Something to keep in mind if it's a concern, your neighbors are going to love this...unless they are far away. So you may want to enclose it and ad some sound proofing. I have a similar compressor in my garage an I know it's pretty loud.

40x40 hillside garage with mezzanine-in progress updates!

For your cable railing, is there a specific kit that you bought or just piece by piece put the set together? Looks great!

    Garage Mezzanine (Concrete question)

With a building that big, why don't you just have it engineered and designed by a professional.

New 50x30x16 Workshop layout and mezzanine design

I think you are low at $50K. I am in Kalifornia and mine was built in 2019. So although my prices may have been higher back then, they are for sure higher now. My 40X60X20, grading, concrete, building, installation...was nearly mid 100's. Add additional soils reports, grading plans, permits and...

    Garage Mezzanine (Concrete question)

Here is my reply to another post showing the picture of the center footing for a post for my mezzanine. Every corner or my building had some pretty big footings. Seems like mezzanine talk is all the rage lately. :ROFLMAO...

New 50x30x16 Workshop layout and mezzanine design

LOL...yeah...I have no idea what any of that means but perhaps it's helpful to you. Not sure how much cheaper it would have been to engineer it for less of a load, but my building guy was always recommending to design bigger than you think. Even the roof loads were much higher than normal...

New 50x30x16 Workshop layout and mezzanine design

Here is the section of wording from the plans. The application of mezzanine loads different from those described below could void warranties and certifications as they apply to the material supplied by manufacturer. Dead Load 11.0 psf (included Cee joists and beams) Live Load...

New 50x30x16 Workshop layout and mezzanine design

When I did my building it was designed to have the mezzanine in it from the beginning. So the entire plan including concrete and all were taken into consideration. I always thought that the concrete footing was interesting because at the end with the mezzanine there was a large and deep section...

New 50x30x16 Workshop layout and mezzanine design

Here is my 40X60X20 with one support in the center end of the mezzanine. I would imagine if they made that i-beam bigger they could have eliminate the post but it does seem like a pretty long stretch to not have one.

    Drill Bit Set

Any thoughts on a set like this? Although I'm sure not the best quality, for the occasional use it has a lot of the same sizes that you typically go through. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09N6Q7W59/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Post your random questions about welding

FYI... That same question was on the form when I had an MRI done and I asked the same thing and got the same answer. (edit) They also said within the last 30 days.

Best Methods for "Professional Quality" Rattle Can Restoration

This was all done with a can. I just did a quick sand, black Dupli-color gloss black, then a 2K clear coat. Dried about a week then sanded with 2000 then 3000 then polished. I don't think I'd do it again on a car that way but your project seems like a good candidate for that method.

DIY wall hanging garage shelves that a beginner can make and wont break the bank?

Another good thing for cheap shelving is old office furniture shelving. I've scavenged probably about 20 pieces for free. They are usually pretty deep but maybe 3' wide at the most but they are strong.
