What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Maybe you have more control and I do. I had a '19 Mustang GT (460HP stock- mine wasn't stock) 6 speed manual for daily. It was 'video game' fast. In other words, triple digits felt like 55mph. Very comfy, ridiculously good mpg for all that power etc. But when the dealer I bought it from (new)...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

It's my wife's daily driver. She loves it. I like it a lot, for a vehicle without a clutch pedal LOL. It initially caught her, and then my eye, because it's a really rare color combo. White with black / ebony interior and tan top. It's a 2SS car with every factory option and it had ZERO...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Thanks - haven't seen that video (I've watched more than a few of his restoration videos though) but that was basically the same solution I ended up trying. Works well.

Amazon Deals on New Retail Items - Post them!

Ouch. YEARS ago we were using lengths of logging chain and a come along to get my Toyota 4x4 out of a mud (Swamp) area on the power lines in SC where I grew up. Multiple trucks tried - they couldn't even make it to where we got stuck. I'm working that come along and I hear a loud "bang". Never...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I had to explain what a fax machine was to a co worker the other day. Literally. "What did it look like?" Time to drink.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I cut the tip of my finger off a couple of years ago. Literally. It was hanging on by a small chunk of skin. Wife convinces me to go to urgent care clinic. Start talking with this doc. Looks at it. We start talking about how it happened. He says "I can try to sew it back on, but not sure how...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT The Garage / Shop / House Thread - Motivation

Sidetracked. Again. Get home. Change. Go to shop. Run across new mulching blades I bought when the only that needed mowing was snow. Was planning on doing diff / ATF fluid swap in the wife's '13 Camaro SS ragtop. See the leaves building up around the property. Dammit. Get the mower out of the...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Had plans to do the Trans / Diff fluid service on my wife's '13 Camaro SS. Got home, changed, went in the shop, and looking for a certain funnel, I ran across two boxes. Unopened. Before I could finish asking myself "What the hell is in those boxes?" I realized they were the mulching blades for...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

FWIW - use a heat gun. Heat the manifold up. Hit it with the high temp clear - let it off gas a bit - hit with heat - another coast, rinse repeat. Did this routine on many an exhaust manifold and engine and it just seems to hold up a lot better.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT My new garage build! 30x50 !

I made a good bit of side income from buying those and getting them fixed by Toyota, then selling. More than a few people - I would tell them that Toyota would fix the 3.0 head gaskets for free and they didn't believe me. Some dealers would argue until I showed up with Campaign docs. LOL. Most...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Appreciate the offer, but the spacing / runs on these frames are really unique for a reg cab / long bed. I've looked at 5 or 6 different frames (pictures too) that people I know have just sitting around, basically like you said "I'm going to cut it up and scrap it anyway" and the spacing / shape...

Most useful and least useful cordless ratchets and impact drivers in different drive sizes

What he said. My 1/4" driver (w/ the appropriate socket adapter) is my go to for most things on a vehicle. If it's high torque I'll give the air impact a go (as it's right there in my shop) - but most time I use a breaker bar to break it loose - and honestly, if it's older, odds are it's going...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Started ordering steel for patching up the '08 Silverado frame. Starting with the middle frame piece I need to overlay. (See pics). I have to get my wife's SS in to replace ATF and Diff fluids and then roll the truck back in to remove the ABS module (in the pic) remove that bracket, remove the...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Pressure washed the Silverado frame with the big pressure washer. Found another piece I need to order / cut / weld in. Got things ready to do a diff / trans fluid change on my wife's daily driver Camaro SS, and then spent a few minutes cutting / buffing the 22 year old paint on my daily driver...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT The Garage / Shop / House Thread - Motivation

The cheapo carb let the pressure washer fire right up with zero leaks. Kind of crazy it was less than HALF price to buy an entire new carb, that was identical to the old one - than buy the rebuild kit that had the one gasket I needed. And the thing I didn't want to discover, but the thing I...

Which AC brands to avoid ? Need advice…

I have a good friend who has done HVAC for years. He always says "There are HVAC Techs, there are HVAC installers and their are HVAC Sales. What you "need" will be impacted by which one of the three show up at your house."

    ZMotorsports Shop Projects 2.0

Around here there are a ton of 'mobile mechanics' advertising on Facebook etc. I'm not saying all of them are hacks, some of them are probably great mechanics. But a while back a co-worker had one these guys who advertises on Facebook come out to his parking garage during the work day and do a...
