Picked up this Craftsman rolling chest today

So it appears to be missing either a drawer or the door that might slide up into a channel under the bottom big drawer. The three drawers are "locked" unless I push up on a tabs that are in that channel. From other pictures I've searched for it appears to be a door for the big opening that...

Not sure of vintage but got this today. Rusty, crusty and missing parts but I dig it.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Ford garage - 40X60X20

So in running my electrical I wanted 2 120 circuits going along the long and short wall and alternated each box on those two breakers. I ran two separate 12/2 MC cables the entire length, wired them all up and they worked. Being proud of my handy work I told my next door neighbor who is a...

    Fact Check This Please

Here is the actual plan drawings for my solar system with a sub panel in my detached garage for reference. Eliminate the stuff from the solar system to the sub-panel and it should be what you need as far as the basics.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Ford garage - 40X60X20

Got my solar installed, signed off and am now producing power. It's 36 LG Neon 2 panels for a total of 11.52kWp. Plenty for what I'm using between the house and now garage. Going to run a few months to see how we actually do compared to our bills but I've planned it to be able to put at least a...

Setup woodworking area in large shop question

Thanks for all the input. Sounds like under the mezzanine it is! I like the idea of some sort of temporary wall or at least large doors that I can open up when I'm not creating dust.

Setup woodworking area in large shop question

So I have a 40X60X20 building and am looking for a general ideas of where to setup the dusty/dirty woodworking and metal grinding area. On the left side I have a mezzanine at 10'. The area under the mezzanine is 40X20...so basically I end up with a 40X20X10 area on the left then a 40X40X20 area...

    Roof access door

Is that a yes or a no? Sorry...not sure. However my wife reminded me that we are building a deck that will go to the 2nd floor and why not just use a regular ladder there. I tend to over think things I guess. Thanks for the input everyone! And while I'm overthinking and you mentioned hose...

    Roof access door

Any thoughts on installing a roof access door on a steel building? I have 20' eves with solar on the roof. Solar guy says to clean the panels at least once per year. I guess I have a couple of options; 1. Get a very tall ladder and climb up that onto the roof. 2. Cut a hole in my roof and put...

    Barn wall finishing help!

I just laid down some steel channel on the floor the steel studs at 24" on center for the shop area and 16" on center for my man cave area. The top is screwed into the bottom of the girts. Will put plywood over the shop section and drywall on the other section. Took up some floor space but I'll...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Ford garage - 40X60X20

So planning out the mezzanine. 1-1/8" T&G @ $43.90 each is more than double the cost of 3/4" T&G @ $18.34 each. I need 25 for the 20X40 mezzanine so thats $1100 vs $500. I'm also going to run the 4X8 sheets lengthwise like the picture. The floor joist things are 2' apart. I'm going to use the...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Ford garage - 40X60X20

Did the floor sealing/waxing last weekend. Not supper happy with the finish but at least it's sealed properly and has some shine to it. We power washed and scrubbed with a broom to get all the dirt out. I didn't bother trying to get rid of any tire marks or other blemishes from construction...

    Garage Door Prices and sizes

I have 2 12X14 doors. Quoted prices between $6K-$15K. I'm going to go with the Clopay doors with 2" insulation. Will be about $8K installed. If I could do it again, I'd probably just do 1 12X14 and maybe the other 12X10 to reduce cost.

    18' Scaffolding - Thoughts

Yeah...maybe that's the route to go. I see some of that bigger aluminum looking scaffolding locally. He says it goes to 15' high. So adding my 5'10" + about 1'6" additional arms reach gets me to 22'4". So that means with my 20' eave and a 12:1 pitch and 20' to the center of my building the max...

    18' Scaffolding - Thoughts

OK...18' doesn't seem so bad looking at that picture...cant imagine setting that thing up. Another reason I like the scaffolding idea is that I can tear it down to take up a little less space...I can probably put it on the top of some cabinets or something out of the way...a scissor lift will...

    18' Scaffolding - Thoughts

Thanks for all the replies and scary thoughts! Going up 18' does seem a little sketchy. My next post would probably be "FS: 18' Scaffolding, barley used" My problem with renting something like a lift is it's going to take me a year to get what I want done in the shop. I'm not an electrician so...

    18' Scaffolding - Thoughts

So now that I have the garage built, thinking about buys a used scissor lift but those things are pricey around here...I was thinking about getting an 18' scaffolding. I've been up on a 12' one before and it was fine. My building is 20' at the eves so it should be just the right height for the...
