    As a technician, how much does NOT owning a scan tool limit you?

    Some good thoughts so far. Also, there is a difference between a code reader and a scan tool. A code reader might be a good investment for you. You can read/clear codes, reset lights, etc with out having to run and grab the shop's larger scan tool all the time. A good one might run you $200.
