    Milling 8020 countersinks

If you aren't married to 8020, check out www.tnutz.com. If you are purchasing new material and know your lengths and where you need the counterbores machined, much cheaper to purchase them already machined. The counterbores are 75 cents each...

    HF44 bench design - for the non-welder

:) I think that describes all my projects. Decided to make it two separate mounts, then I can decide later if I want to spread them out and have a workspace between them. Materials on order. Picked up my second 44" box from HF which was a pre-sale from Black Friday. My first box was SKU...

Question about old Snap-On toolboxes - prices?

I paid $900 for a KR650A and KR655B combo last year. I'd say $4-500. Others may have more experience with these. Should be KR-555 and KR 550B, typo in your post. See these posts as well for reference: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185549...

What do I get out of this home water supply manifold setup ?

I agree. I also agree that using the 2HP pump is not the best choice.

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Another Garage Build, 26 x 30 w/ future studio apartment above

Making a little more progress on the siding. Replacing the house wrap as I go. Just need to install flashing over the garage doors and a few more rows and I’m done with the lower level siding. Then I’ll switch to the cedar shake style for the upper part of the gables and the dormers. The dormers...

Seat is back up to $49.99, I’m guessing so they can knock it back down for the midnight madness sale tonight.

    HF44 bench design - for the non-welder

Who's using "free finite element analysis on the internet."? Got me thinking on this. I agree in principle about your point in the design of a wall, but not sure the loads are that excessive. The nails securing the top plates to the stud will have no problem holding this load. Summing the...

    HF44 bench design - for the non-welder

Maybe 2-3" gap. I may add some adjustable feet later if I feel the need for it. I am waiting on a final quote, but my cost is going to be around $700. I don't think I could buy all the steel necessary to build this for $200. I also prefer anodized aluminum to painted steel. Finally, my...

    HF44 bench design - for the non-welder

The whole assembly is wall mounted, not just the top. I just like the floating look and want to be able to sweep under it if needed.

    HF44 bench design - for the non-welder

Unistrut will not support the loads cantilevered off the wall. You can’t make strong right angle connections with unistrut either without extra bracing. A 1.5” profile will support 1200 lbs at 6” away from the joint with the double anchor fastener.

    HF44 bench design - for the non-welder

Pullout force on the top bolts is small. Assuming 18" CG of load off wall and upper 2x6 at 48" high, load is 2250 lbs. (Fx = 6000*18/48) With 12 lag bolts holding it up, that's 188 lbs/bolt. A 5/16" lag bolt has a pullout force capacity of 209 lbs/ inch of thread engagement. I will engage...

    HF44 bench design - for the non-welder

No feet is my plan. Wall mounted. You can cut it with a chop saw but I am ordering everything precut and machined for anchor fasteners. They are the strongest fastening method.

    Garage Ceiling Storage Racks

Not sure those are any better. They have 4 vertical mounts instead of 6. Both have 600 lb capacity. It also looks like it uses 1/4-20 bolts from the manual, where the fleximounts rack uses larger M8 hardware. Finally, the fleximounts version has the wire rack welded to the frame which makes...

    Garage Ceiling Storage Racks

Cheapest I've seen on these. Just ordered 4 of them. They look better than most of the others, 6 vertical supports instead of 4, heavier hardware, etc. FLEXIMOUNTS 4x8 Overhead Garage Storage Rack Adjustable Ceiling Storage Rack Heavy Duty, 96" Length x 48" Width x (22.5''-40" Ceiling...

    HF44 bench design - for the non-welder

Inspired by steevo and dbonne, but designed from 8020 to avoid the need for welding. Also, aluminum, so no paint required, it also comes in black anodize for extra $$. I finally splurged and bought 2 HF44 boxes on black friday. One was in stock, the order had to be ordered so it should be...

    Beeman air pistol

I ordered 2 as well. It says arriving Dec 17. The only guns I currently own, and I use the word "guns" loosely, is a pair of Predom Lucznik Polish pellet pistols. Google says around 380 fps. They are pretty darn accurate and fun to shoot. They are spring powered and cocked by breaking the...

Floor Joists and Rafters - I-Joists, Truss Joists, Other?

Sounds similar to my garage. I used floor joists because I am running HVAC, electrical, plumbing for the upstairs portion. My intention is a 1BR apartment upstairs. I also have head and sink downstairs in garage. I wanted to minimize overall height of my garage so I requested 14" tall...

Garage floor coatings - Too Many Options

Dave, considering I do not currently own a welder, and it may be 10 years before I get one, I don't think Hellfire is for me, although it looks very impressive. FJ, what are the benefits of a ceramic system over traditional epoxy or polyurea systems?
