I heard that Apex bought out the SO supplier and told them they were no longer going to provide Tap and Dies so SO is going back to the drawing board.

It’s all about the tolerances of the socket you use. Snap-On sockets for example are very low tolerance so the sockets grip better and you have less chance of rounding the head of a bolt.

You can re-use the handles. Just make sure when removing the old one to do so carefully. Generally with hard Handles they pry off pretty easy in a vise.
