Carrier Greenspeed Heat Pump Opinions Please

My current set up consists of 2 GE Weathertron Executives installed in 1978. A 2 ton unit for the finished basement and a 3.5 ton unit for the upstairs. Both have installed electric back up heat, 9.5 kW downstairs and 20.25 kW upstairs. Both of these units have performed very well through out...

Replacing my air to air heat pump

My GE unit has failed after 35 years and it's time to replace it. It's a 2 ton unit and I'd like to stick with the air to air set up. Is it best to select a condenser/air handler or rely on the contractor's recommendation? I'm talking about specific model numbers rather than saying "Yeah, I...

    Altering FR clothing

My employer requires FR clothing for all electricians and we wear it constantly. Recently the employer wants to add reflective striping to all employees uniforms including the FR uniforms worn by electricians. The modification will be carried out by the uniform company but I'm skeptical that the...

    Indestro and Stevens Walden sets

Here's a couple sets that I got by way of my Dad: 1/4" Indestro set 7602 Even has the original paperwork: A Stevens-Walden 3/8" socket set: Complete set although the 9/16 deep well is broken. Not a big fan of that particular ratchet, I tend to grab it near the selector and that changes...

    Masterforce Keys

Has anyone had any luck copying keys from their Masterforce toolboxes? The plastic tops are too small for most key chains and the metal part eventually breaks off with frequent use. I'd like to use an all metal key and wonder if anyone has been there and identified the blank.

    12" Pedestal Grinder

I've had this beast for about a year and need the room. 220 3 phase so you may need a phase converter or VFD. By awcoop at 2011-04-17 By awcoop at 2010-04-30 Tool rests and the cup are there along with 12" x 1" wheels. Lighted guards, right side requires repair and new glass. This sucker...

One garage empties, another fills. My recent haul

A buddy at work was cleaning out his garage and asked me if I was interested in a few items: C-man sockets, a couple professional series ratchets and assorted hand tools... <img src="http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/6216/img0213gyj.jpg" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/> By <a target="_new"...

    New Facom Goodness

A recent purchase from Steve over at Ultimate Garage: I have a 10 and 13mm of these and use the heck out of them at work, I wanted some common fractional sizes as well. By awcoop at 2011-02-10 I like this style of wrench, these are apparently no longer in production by Facom. By awcoop at...

    Adjustable wrench parts?

I'm looking for a thumbwheel and screw for a 10" Kal adjustable. I seem to remember someone mentioning that they had a stash of adjustable wrench rebuild parts.

    Garage sale picks

Not a great sale but a few satisfying pieces: A pair of Brinks and Cotton 4" C clamps and a 6" one too. I don't think they've ever been used, just a light coat of flash rust. A Wards Master parts bin from the late 50's early 60's, filled with typical home handyman stuff from that era. About 6"...

    Pawn shop sticker shock

I thought I'd check out a pawn near here yesterday. Mostly beat power tools and incomplete sets of specialty tools. Anything with a 'name' seemed to be inflated, for example a Mac internal pipe extractor showing lots of wear and missing 2 of the 6 pieces was 49.00. I found a box of...

High security locks for C-Man boxes

Has anyone found a source for replacement locks for Craftsman boxes? There are about 30 mechanics in my shop and a couple known duplicate locksets. The Craftsman locks are kinda cheap too, I'd like to have something more secure without welding a hasp on to the boxes.

    Craftsman 1/2 drive 3/8 allen

I'm trying to find one but the website *****. Does anyone know a p/n for the regular and the impact? I've looked on some other sites (tooltopia, tool warehouse) but can only find sets. Trying to remove a front brake caliper from a 87 chevy truck.

Tool Marking- Do you do it?

As far as my own preference, my tools at work are marked. I work all over the plant and as careful as I try to be have lost a couple tools. Fortunately one was marked with my initials, and the other with my name and they were returned when found by honest employees. My home tools are never lent...

    Hello from IL

Hi everyone- I found this site via a link from the Supercar Registry and spent about 3 hours looking at BB767's workshop overhaul. This site seems to attract a lot of like minded individuals, I love to see what's inside other garages.
