post your tools left in the engine bay story

I left a #2 phillips screwdriver from my 6 piece gearwrench set under the hood of a Silverado. The independent tool guy tried to charge me $20 for a replacement when the whole set cost me $15 on sale from Advance Auto. Lol.

    Let's see your toolbox.

Here's my setup. What I started with at school. My current setup at work. Ratcheting wrenches. Stubby and midgets. Full Gearwrench set (SAE 1/4-11/8 I think and Metric 8-24) and open ends. work in progress. Measuring/testing and cutting. Hammers/misc. ratchet/extension...

    Palmster Ratchets.....

I have both the Williams and Powerline. I had to snag one up after using my Dad's Snap-On. Bought the Powerline first and liked it so I wanted to have a second one for the truck and bought the Williams. Neither compare to the quality of the Snap-On but they're a good little ratchet to have around.

    No oil in new ratchets.

I couldn't agree with you more here. Look at harbor freight with their new flex head ratchets. They're providing a feature the customers asked for at a price they know we're willing to pay. My point is that Crescent isn't offering a product feature or benefit. They're not relying on quality...

    No oil in new ratchets.

Actually it is a theory! You nor I know the exact reason this particular manufacturer chooses not to use lubrication in their ratchets. Therefore you saying it is to cut production cost and maximize profits is in fact only a theory/educated guess. The practice of cutting manufacturing cost is...

    No oil in new ratchets.

Got ya! That's a good theory, especially when thinking of a company trying to maximize their profit. They're selling not based on customer perception or value but on $price$. So if they can skip the lubrication to maximize their return I'm sure they wouldn't think twice about it. It would just...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!
