    Source for 4x6 bandsaw gear

Thanks Shadowdow500. That gave me a nudge in what I hope is the right direction. The diagram looks just like mine. The part image won't load for me but the price did, 50 bucks! I got the saw on clearance for $150. Hoping I can find it cheaper than that. Since the Grizzly was a match I went to...

Scoffin' at Scarf While Learning to Lathe

2oolhound thanks for the visual lesson/reminder. I had High school machine shop in the early 70's and still remember not to use my bare hands around metal shavings. I just recently got a lathe (2 actually) and have been using them a lot lately. I just came out of the shop and had a pile similar...

    Source for 4x6 bandsaw gear

The worm gear on my 4x6 band saw took a ****. I was running it today and it just stopped cutting. The gears on the worm shaft appear to be OK, But the gear is shot. So bad I can't get decent measurements to look up something similar or even attempt cutting one on my own. As I am sure that I...

    Is this box really Snap-on

So would $100 be a decent price for it. He is about 30 miles away and said he would do as low as 100.

    Is this box really Snap-on

Does it also seem to be missing the upper center drawer? I am looking for a small box to set by my lathe. This one seems like a decent size.

    Is this box really Snap-on

There is a box on craigslist. Just wondering if it is really a snap-on box. I know I would not pay $150 for it but would it be worth offering him $80. Would be a major project to restore. Here is the link. http://omaha.craigslist.org/tls/5240172231.html

My small but growing DBE wrench collection

I favor the DBE as well. My 2 favorite sets are my short Plomb and my set of Hinsdales. Both are round handles like the Vlcheks above. I have an old round dbe craftsman that I got from my dad. Turned out they were made by Hinsdale so I got a set of them. I use the Plomb 8161 more than any...

    Picked this up at auction

Do you have to lift the pallets from the side? Seems it would rip the bottom boards off if used the regular way.

Where do you use Taps & Dies most often?

Whats all this talk about tapping hoes. You want Tampa to show up? I do want to add to this thread. The way I was taught and when I use a tap and Die I turn it until it gets tight then back out to clear the chips then forward then back seems to take me forever, Yet when I watch videos on you...

Thanks for the replies. Just getting back to the Garage Journal as I have been busy. I did get the manuals from the Yahoo groups. Manuals were very helpful. My daughter was registered with Yahoo so went in under her sign-on. Ed, They are 10" lathes. I have the one I am keeping running very...

    Delta Rockwell Lathe Info needed

I picked these up this weekend. 2 Delta Rockwell 25-700 lathes. The front one has nothing wrong with it that I can find short of needing a major cleaning and having to change over to a single phase motor. The one in back was bought for parts. It needs a tail stock. no motor, The lead screw...

    how i got my $300 CAT 4620A compressor for $199.02 shipped ;)

I am happy for you as well but seems "in-stock item from any local retailer" is the key to the price guarantee. Is sale-tools.com a local retailer in your area and thus the reason they chose to match it?

    Delta Double duty motor

I have a 1/2 HP single phase Delta double duty motor that I took off a lathe. This thing is big so I would rather not have to ship it. If someone from this area is looking at restoring something that needs the motor I will give it to you for free. The motor runs fine. I made no attempt to clean...

    DC Motor conversion questions

Thanks everyone for the posts. I spent some time in the shop tonight and was actually able to make the small black disk work with out getting errors. Turns out the presets are not that great of a thing and adjusting the speeds via a button is not all that great as well. I decided that I am...

    DC Motor conversion questions

I just had a thought. The head stock step pulley has recesses for the index pin. The holes don't go all the way through so don't really emit light. Is there a way these could be taken advantage of? There are 2 sets of index holes the inner one has 60 index holes. Here is a picture of the index.

    DC Motor conversion questions

Thanks for the reply. My electrical skill? I know they can package a lot of smoke in to very small parts and if I mess around with something too much I eventually let a lot of the smoke out. I can rewire a house but my knowledge of electronics is limited. I can follow instructions. I attached...

    DC Motor conversion questions

I have seen posts in the past on those who have done these conversions, So hopefully those who have done this can give me advice on mine. I picked up a good working treadmill that had presets and a nice display panel. My problem is this model used an optical reader that was on the belt roller...

What is your favorite drillpress accessory?

My delta bench top has a laser sight on it. Line up the cross hairs and there you go. Of course I never use it. But it sure looks cool. Mortise chisels are actually my favorite accessory.
