Proto ratcheting screwdriver set ( really impressed)

I saw those on Amazon a while back and want one since it’s gray and black as opposed to the red Mac uses.

Found these snap on pliers and a mac 1/4 drive 3/8 socket in a pawn shop for $1 today. Did a little cleaning before heading to work and they’re a little better. Gonna knock more of the rust off later tonight.

    Good Torx screwdrivers? (not bits)

I’ve got an incomplete craftsman set I picked up for cheap. Of course I learned after I took them out of the packaging that they have that dreaded smell. I want to get a set of the hard handle MACs just because I like the handles. Our MAC guy charges more than their website so I’ll just hunt...

What’s your minimum handyman style toolkit for unexpected stuff at other people’s houses?

Same here. I will bring whatever’s needed if they call and ask for help, but if I’m visiting I usually just have whatever is bouncing around in the back of my suv. Most people I know already have tools.

True! I never made any money off it though.

Never thought I’d be reading about photography in a tool thread:ROFLMAO: I got into it for a while, but did mostly automotive and wildlife. Sony a7r5 with the Sony 200-600 was my favorite setup and brought me so much happiness. I would just drive wherever a gravel road took me in search of...

Called the snap on rep to see where he was to meet up and he was on his way out of town. I told him I needed to meet with him for something so he stopped his truck and waited for me to get there. I needed an e5 Torx socket and luckily he had one blue point left so I grabbed it. Decided to grab a...

    Shocked by bit socket prices

It took me forever just searching local shops but I did finally find a used set of the snap on heavy duty Torx for $100. They’ve seen some use, but don’t look like they were used on an impact so I figured it was a good deal since the bits can be replaced. I thought many times about getting a vim...

Making my 70 El Camino a show car

I love reading through these threads! This is exactly what I wanted to go to school for when I graduated high school. Sadly, my mother decided that even though I never went to any parties I would for some reason party too much and drop out. Worked with a local guy to learn the ropes until he...

VIM has some duds and some gems. This one is a GEM!

Honest question, what are you using them for that you use them often? I’ve wanted a palm ratchet, but I’m afraid it’ll just end up not getting used and listed for sale after a while. I’ve got a buddy that helped me install something on my suv and we had to use his snap on tkf72 and I really...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Easiest way is to put pressure on the lower control arm while it’s on the lift and just take the nut off the lower ball joint, take the bolt out of the lower shock mount, and slowly lower the control arm to release the pressure on the coilover and then remove the nuts on the top. Much harder to...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I was outside long enough to put out some hog bait and we took a trailer load of stuff from the shop to the dump, but it’s still too cold and rainy here to do much outside.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I got an old Mac VR15F off eBay that was missing a screw so I took it out of the box today and figured I’d just put a screw out of one of the kits I have and throw it in. It felt like the teeth were on the verge of failure so I took it apart and they were indeed in pretty bad shape. Looked like...

ICON Master and Technician Sets and The Black Hole SAE Tool Debate

You’re not lying especially about the welding. I had a Lincoln 110v flux core welder that I got over 20 years ago and it sat unused for the last 15 years so about 6 months ago I got tired of my dad complaining about it being in his shop and sold it. Last week he was complaining there wasn’t a...

Cornwell Hex bit sockets. Any good? Prices seem low.

Go look at the description and then go to vim’s website and read theirs. It’s the exact same description if I remember correctly. Unless you have a dealer you want to support I’d get a set off eBay for much less.

Blue point 35” five drawer cart questions

I’m not too worried about the key especially if it gets put out at my dad’s shop since now he likes to go into my toolbox to use my tools instead of his :ROFLMAO:. I’d like to get one at some point though since they do take spur of the moment trips out of state and he could lock it up when they...

Blue point 35” five drawer cart questions

Probably. I messed with it for a little bit, but didn’t want to go crazy with it in front of them.
