Sold to Range Resources for $5000 an acre mineral rights and one million five hundred thousand to a...

Se sort of formula -- nerd alert

Is there some way (other than time) for determining how much of a load can be hung from a steel bracket? I have this fire extinguisher cylinder "bell" to be hung from the loop at the top of the picture, outside the shop . The bell and clapper weighs in at 16 pounds. The bracket is 1"x 1/8 bar...

    Garage hoist lift to storage

While viewing Pinterest I ran across a garage hoist picture for getting stuff to storage above garage ceiling, Winch attached to trusses and lifting platform on cable made of wood. The caption stated that the source was Garage Journal but no name, category, or date. Is there a way to locate...

    240 volt electrical cable reel

Does anyone make a reasonably priced 240 volt cable reel? I need to move a 240 cable to several temporary locations 60 feet(20 meters). A overhead reel would be a nice alternative but $700+ for one I found in a nautical application is not in the budget. Can a such heavy cable work on a reel...

    Floor boxes

Somewhere on this site was a post about installing 12 x 12 or 6x6 steel floor boxes to hold/anchor vise/grinder stands in a garage slab and it also contained a "D" ring as a tie down. Now I can't find the thread. I would like to read about the value of a floor box imbedded in a concrete slab...

Finally got a bit of money to run a 220 line from the main box in the house to the detached garage. (there is plenty of space in the box). Need it for welding and plasma cutting in a rural home setting. I need to run from the house outside under a 8' wide driveway, then travel 106 feet to the...

    Fve questions from a novice

I have a 1970’s detached two car garage in Pennsylvania. Last Autumn I started to install two garage door openers. They are up and I’ve run the 120v and low power wires but ran out of time owing to weather and never made the connections for power (AND I have never done it before so it was...

    Hay- Budden Anvil

I posted this on several sites but the holiday limited responses. While the tool hounds made a beeline to the garage, I found this as a coffee table base in the TV room. My newly acquired Hay-Budden, Brooklyn, NY, serial number very difficult, 199098 or perhaps 199038 or close. 03 stamped on...

Is there a keyword search method.

I was informed that there was a excellent post on building a forge. I checked back more than a few pages but did not succeed in finding that post either general discussion or fabrication. Is there a way to do a keyword search to find the post? I did not find a way to search under the word...

    Who made this vise

Found this vise. There is only a faint "W" on the jaw (next to the numeral 2). It looks like it might be a Wilton 675, but where the "Wilton" name is usually embossed on the side it is blank. There are jaw part numbers (see pic). Any opinions

    Soldering galvanized ductwork

Can ductwork galvanized steel sheet be soldered? What I want involves soldering some curves as well as soldering tabs after bending. If possible I plan on using a jewelers acetylene torch. Is there any special flux or solder to use? Thought I'd ask BEFORE cutting the material.

    Type 2 bearing grease?

I had to replace a spindle on a angle grinder. Got it apart and back together but need to repack the gears. Makita says use TYPE 2 BEARING GREASE. Makita does not sell it. I've hit the local NAPA and the internet and I'm informed that there is soap and oil types of "Type 2". Question is --...

    Acetylene and guage question

Recently I bought a jewelry making acetylene set up. It has a 40 cf acetylene tank. I'm thinking I'd like to buy a oxygen tank and use what I have for additional (home, farm, auto) applications. Not my full time job, but something that needs to get a job done. No Mickey Mouse, if I'm going...

    Door openers

Recently bought two residential overhead garage door openers (used) but manufactured in 2010. Both are identical Chamberlain 3/4 HP chain drive. The garage has never had openers before. The doors are 10' x 7'9". Estimates to do the install are the better part of five times what I paid for...

    Wilton vise dating

I thought that I posted this earlier, but now I'm thinking that I forgot to post. If this is a duplicate, please excuse. Anyway, today I found a new to me, old 4" Wilton bullet vise. Brought it home. If the movable jaw is removed, inside the "bullet" there are numbers. Inside is the...

    Wilton vise date

Found a new to me old 4" Wilton bullet vise. Brought it home. Inside is the date 6 50. My understanding is that that is the date of manufacture. New information sent to me is that before 1960 the date signifies the end date of the warranty. My date would indicate it was made in June 1945...

    Dual connector

I'm looking for a source for a inexpensive dual thread ****** connector. I want 3/4 x 14 NPT on one side and 3/4 standard thread on the opposite side. I found one, from a lab supply house at 65.00 each. At that money I had to reject. As an alternative, an eye bolt or lifting ring with a 3/4"...

    Gas cylinder thread?

Anyone know the thread size at the top of a 80# stainless steel inert gas cylinder? Appears to be close to a 1" internal thread (metric?,left hand?). I don't have a thread gauge that fits and no bolt I have matches -- can't find a reference, and local sources haven't helped. I need to locate...
