    Pre-Kleano cheaper alternative

Back in the early 90's I was a mechanic at an Oldsmobile dealer. When we had to degrease something, we were provided Pre-Kleano. We would spray it through one of these air/solvent guns. https://shop.snapon.com/product/Water-Nozzles-and-Hoses/Air-Solvent-Gun-(Blue-Point)/GA299 It worked great...

1980's tarnish remover in orange can???

I remember a tarnish remover that was a saturated cotton in an orange can. You would pull some off the roll, and it worked very well. The can was about 2 1/2 - 3 inches in diameter and about 4 inches high. I think they had another type in a blue can. I just can't remember the name. Thanks

    Anyone familiar with the Snap-on MG325 & MG725 impacts?

I just acquired both the Snap-on MG325 & MG725 impact wrenches, used. With the dial on full blast, in reverse sounds like there is a lot more power than in forward. It is the same for both guns. Is this normal? I have owned the previous versions from Snappy, the IM31A, IM51A, IM5100, and they...

    Waterproof bathroom walls

Just framed out the bath and office in my shop. For the bath, just a toilet and sink, I want to be able to use a hose for cleaning since I highly doubt my wife would be willing to clean it. LOL I am installing Durock cement board six feet high, then two feet of MR green board drywall. I am...

    Are Makita, Milwaukee's seconds?

A sales associate at Northern Tool store said that if the Milwaukee internal part's don't meet their standards, they go to Makita. And if it doesn't meet Makita standards, they go to an off brand. I find this unbelievable, but could it be possible? I have never looked at the internal parts, I...

    Mac Tools vintage liquid glove.

This is a long shot, but back in the early 90's I was given a small bottle, maybe 4 oz, of a type of lotion from Mac Tools. It was called something glove I think. It was a white bottle with a Mac Tools label. It's purpose was to apply it before your hands got dirty, and cleanup was easier. Does...

I just found this in a cabinet I inherited. I never heard of the brand. It seems like high quality, as it is pretty heavy.

    Air tool parts?

I have a Mac 1/4" air ratchet purchased new back in the early 90's. The top plastic screw thingy is leaking air. If I remember correctly it is either slightly stripped or a hairline crack. But I think it is only that black plastic screw that is the issue. I am looking to find opinions on the...

Insulating an overhead door for the winter?

I have a 10'x10' rol up metal door. I was thinking of trying to insulate it for the winter. My only thoughts is to use 2" hard foam board, and use brackets boltet to the track to hold it in place. Over the top, I will just use a bat of insulation to shove in between the door and wall. Any other...

    Snap-on PBC32 parts washer

I picked up a used Snappy parts washer. The only thing missing is the pipe??? that holds the light with the quick disconnect. My quick connector plug is broken, and I am calling Moffett Co. to replace the quick connect hardware. What I need, is to get a pic of the pipe and the way the quick...

Air vs. battery - I guess I'm old school, no more

I've had this 1/4" air ratchet since around 1990. I used it a lot at the Oldsmobile dealer, mainly for dash work, but for a lot of others. Well today, for the first time in years, I used it and man did it feel awkward. So, I grabbed my cordless driver and sure enough it felt much better. I guess...

    Snap on IM5100 rebuild?

My Snap-on IM5100 1/2" impact started running full throttle when I hooked up the air hose. Does anyone know the best place to get a rebuild kit? Or, it is better to send it in. First time having one I want to keep, go bad.

Anyone rebuild their own brake calipers?

I bought new calipers pads & rotors off Amazon for my kids truck. Since I and my brother have the same truck, I figure I will rebuild the cores. I did it long ago when I was a young mechanic, but I don't know where the boss bought the parts. Any idea where is the best place to purchase...

Parts washer solvent - How much?

I recently scored a used Snap-on 30 gal parts washer. I am going to use PSC-1000 solvent. I don't think I will need 30 gal in it. How much do you put in yours? I know if I only do 5 gal it might get dirty fast. What do you think would be the ideal amount? Small, side-gig shop, so not going to...

Looking to buy a shop press

I am looking to buy a 50 ton or more shop press. I was wondering if anyone knew of any brands/models/sources for a not junk press? I don't need a DAKE or even OTC, unless I find one used. I have been pounding marketplace and such, but nothing I like is close.
