    Cutting EVA foam

I'm cutting EVA foam with a compass style circle cutter but the foam is too thick to cut through, and the tool doesn't accept bigger blades. In order to get all the way through I have to flip the workpiece over and cut from the backside too, of course this looks pretty sloppy. Any ideas? Cheap...

    Paintless dent repair- need adviced

There are about five small dents dispersed around the body of my car. With no knowledge of bodywork, I began searching for less involved & inexpensive repair methods. It may be important to note that of the two dents on the roof, the lateral most does not permit access from underneath. The dent...

How would you carve a Kuksa?

I found some green birch being discarded so I helped myself to it. One of the things I randomly decided to make was a kuksa, a traditional drinking vessel originally crafted by the Sami people. I made no effort to study pictures, refer to drawings with sizing or watch any how to videos to aide...

    Back Yard Fire Pits

Not too familiar with the law about backyard/campfires in Connecticut and I have a dilemma. The portion of the yard that I intend to could be described as deciduous forrest. I often pitch a tent or hang a hammoc there but fires are kept to the grassy areas of the yard. Anybody know if a campfire...

    Knife forging without an anvil

I found some old wrenches that were my grandfathers and I was thinking of using one or two to make a knife. I have only blanked, never forged and I don't really have enough interest/money for an anvil. I have seen guys use a log with an old axe head slammed in it or a small section of railroad...

Building a stam "box" for wood bending

Hey guys, I am interested in attempting to craft an authentic looking set of snow shoes. This requires me to steam bend the main portion of the wooden frame, which in turn requires a steam box. I would like to minimize the time spent building a steam box so I could focus on the actual...

    Propane Adapters

-I am looking to make or buy an adapter that will allow me to refill 4-8 oz fuel canister from either a 1LB-20 propane tank or a butane can. -There are a few types out there, the butane adapters I don't care for as they don't thread onto the cans. The others just seem kind of expensive...

    Old tools with harmful materials?

I am currently in my second year of radiologic sciences, while researching pneumoconiosis I came across some interesting information. We all know that most inorganic inhalants are harmful to our lungs. What I did not know was that allegedly some of these compounds are found in old tools. I can't...
