    Reel problem need reel solution

Picked up a hose reel yesterday at the swap meet. Made by Aro, seems to be in pretty good shape. I'm going through it before installing it and need to find some washers and I don't know what they're called. Located on the hollow bolt that carries the water from the reel to the hose, and they go...

    Craftsman 30 foot worklight reel

Needs a new home. Price plus $10 for shipping, offers considered. Works great, don't need it and don't want to toss it. Sorry, forgot the pic:

    Which T8 from Home Depot

On previous threads, this light fixture comes up as popular for garages/shops. Sounds good to me. This particular model runs $39.86. In my area, HD has a different version in the stores with what I assume is a commercial/industrial ballast, as it's dual-voltage 120/277. It sells for about $20...

Damn termites ate my porcelain tile floor.

Well, they ate the budget for it anyway. 300 square foot detached with subterranean and dry wood termites. Found them when I demo'ed the sheetrock. Two companies say the same thing- drill the slab and poison the ground underneath, then bag it and fumigate. $1400 So much for my bitchen floor.

Flooring or sheetrock, which go first?

If flooring goes first, I'll be unable to "cove" the flooring up the side of the sheetrock (if I use a professionally applied polyaspartic). If I use tile, I'd be tempted to put the floor down first to avoid a low gap around the wall that could hold liquids. But the prep for either floor will be...

    Auto-on motion detectors

Several years ago, I had a motion-detecting wall switch that would automatically turn the lights on when I walked into the garage. Worked a treat. But when I added a few more lights to the circuit, it failed, and a cursory exam of the rating told me why- it was simply not rated for that much...

    Woodworker/restorer's help?

I scored some wooden foundry original molds today that had (supposedly) come from the Bliss Foundry in Toledo(?) that closed in 1958. Love this things- obviously some wheel/pulleys and what appears to be a connecting rod. I've thoughtfully placed a trash can in the photos to give you a feel for...

    Basic insulation question

Finally moving forward with my delayed garage project, and am putting together a budget. The walls and ceiling space in the garage are completely uninsulated and bare. I've thoughtfully attached a couple images. It is my intention to sheetrock the walls and ceiling, but I'll obviously need to...

    New electrical- two simple questions

Planning the electrical on my one-car shop. One wall is shared with the backyard that has a parking spot, and I'd like to pre-wire for an external box that has a 220 on the outside for charging electric car (we don't need to debate- the wife wants one) and another on the inside for a welder-...

    Coloring pink concrete block wall

Let's pretend this is the exterior wall of my garage, thus making it relevant to GJ topics, ok? I have a large concrete block retaining wall, built in the early 60s, and I'd like to change it's color to dark grey-brown. I don't want to use paint, as it creates a maintenance issue (repainting...

    220 circuit- multiple outlets ok?

This may be a simple, non-controversial question. I hope. I'm planning circuits for my tiny shop, and want to have multiple locations for 220. My experience has been that every 220 outlet is a dedicated circuit- is this a code requirement? I'm not looking to use multiple 220 appliances...

Many questions: Ceiling, drywall, electrical, lighting

OK- deep in planning. Currently, (see images) the ceiling is open, with joists 48" apart. There is no insulation in the rafters. I'm using the "attic" area for long-stuff storage, but have alternatives for that. I'm considering ceiling solutions, and would appreciate your input. The garage...

Ok here we go- a single car mess

Hello! I'm SO hesitant to post this- it a huge commitment. But here it goes. Bought this home about 8 years ago, had the garage alternatively a mess, then perfectly clean, then, upon the arrival of my 1970 F250 resto/mod, totally messy, then my KTM resto/mod really killed it off. Parts...
