The life of old wood working tools

I was working on a Mothers Day present for my GF yesterday and was using a router that had been my MILs hubands. He was a depression era child and WWII vet. He saved and reused EVERYTHING. It made me think about the life this router had lived. The base modification has left it as a single use...

    Snap On XV-1618-S

I broke the box on one end of one of my favorite wrenches and Snap On no longer offers a 6 point. It's a 1/2-9/16 long box wrench. Would anyone here have one they would sell?

    Alcohol drying of turning blanks

Knowing that there are some wood turners here I thought I would ask. I have a small piece of cherry(9" diameter, 4" thick) that I have roughed out the bottom for a bowl. I am wanting to finish turn without having to wait months to air dry. I have submerged the piece in denatured alcohol but I...

    HF toolbox latches

I bought a 54" roll cab, top box and side cabinet last winter. Last night I went to open a drawer and the latch broke. I called HF and got part numbers but they are out of stock. Has anyone here had issues and solved it in another fashion(machined from aluminum, 3D printer, duct tape)?

    Ritchie vacuum pump parts

I have a vacuum pump made by Ritchie that needs a coupling that goes from the motor to the pump. Do any of y'all know of an after market source for parts as Ritchie deemed it obsolete with no support. I will get a model number when I get home tonight and post it.

    Drawer label protector

I bought an industrial storage cabinet that had, in a previous life, stored drills bits at a GE facility. I do not know what brand it is but it has curved extruded aluminum pulls on the fronts of the drawers that have provision for a clear plastic cover to slide in from the end. I would like to...

    Vintage Nupla

I have a Nupla ball peen hammer(green rubber handle)that was my dad’s when he was a line mechanic(late 50s-60s). The handle is really bad but I love to use it. I have looked for a replacement and missed ONE. I could put a wooden handle on it but it just seems sacrilege. Any ideas?

    Belt sander tracking

I bought an unfinished shop made 2"x48" two wheel belt sander from a co-worker. It has a rubber drive roller and an aluminum idle roller. My Schitt stinks

A few weeks ago I had a strong sulpher smell in the garage. I sniffed around and cannot find where it could be coming from. I had three garden tractor batteries one of which I had on a maintainer. None of the three smelled but I took them out to the barn just to eliminate the possibility. I...

    Do tempering valave go bad?

Many years ago I put a tempering valve on the stool. Now we are having temperature swings down stream from it(I think).I cannot determine if it is the T/V or the pressure balance in the shower valve as they are in the same line and close together.
