Capable 110v air compressor for home use?

I'm hoping to get a recommendation for an air compressor for home use. I've been getting by with a Senco 1-gallon that is really great, but just can't keep up with my modest needs. My typical uses are: * filling tires up to 37" dia on a 17" wheel * running a vacuum brake bleeder * blowing out...

Napa Carlyle 3.5T low profile floor jack by Balkamp

I still need a floor jack after saying I'm going to buy one for several years now and see Napa has this one on sale (from $364 down to $219): https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/CHT7916440SO Napa says it's made by Balkamp, I assume in China. Any opinion on how this Napa jacks compares to the...

Made in USA garden hose bib?

I need to replace a hose bib in my back yard and all I can find is made in China junk. Can anyone point me to a made in USA (or at least not made in China) hose bib? I checked with Prier and Woodford but they don't seem to make what I need (3/4" FEMALE inlet, and would prefer 1/4-turn).

BoxoUSA Tool Bag with Tool Roll

https://boxousa.com/collections/garage-sale/products/boxousa-tool-bag-with-tool-roll-plus-mechanic-mat I really like this kit (mostly the idea of the bag and tool roll pre-filled with tools) but damn does it seem overpriced. Is this a case of paying for the convenience of a one stop shopping...

    Aluminum anodizing touch up?

So the car wash guy sprayed bug remover on my $2,000 Baja Designs lights and stripped anodizing off the housings. Any way to fix this? Baja Designs has told me they would warranty the housing but 1) it wasn't their fault and 2) I'd rather not have to remove the lights and send them in...

Factory of Safety when buying jack/jack stands?

All the recent talk about jacks and jack stands has me realizing I don't own either; and, in keeping with Garage Journal tradition, now I must buy them. My question is, should a factor of safety be added in when determining which weight capacity to buy? For instance, I will be working...

My trucks getting older and I'm venturing more and more off the beaten path, so I thought it best to start carrying a more comprehensive tool kit with me. The plan is to buy a couple socket sets in blow molded cases I can store behind/under the back seat. So the question is, should I buy...

I want to mount a vise on top of my new US General 44" rolling tool cabinet.....

.....how would you suggest I go about doing that? I could just drill (4) holes through the top and bolt it down, but my gut feeling is I'll end up deforming the top of the box before too long. What do you guys think of sandwiching the top between a couple pieces of ply or HDPE before bolting...

    Weather pack connector source?

Can anyone recommend a source for quality Weather Pack connectors? I'm uncertain about the Chinese parts sold on Amazon and prefer to avoid them unless you'all give them the thumbs up. Oh, and I will be buying the USA made 12014254 crimp tool. Thank you!

    Need inexpensive coveralls recommendation

I keep getting yelled at by the wife for dirtying my good clothes while working in the garage, so I figure its time to buy some coveralls. Something relatively inexpensive (I'm a home DIY guy, not a pro, and won't be wearing them daily) and quick to get on (otherwise I won't wear them). What do...

    Need a large-ish (44"-72") tool chest.....any Father's Day specials?

Anyone have a hot tip on upcoming Father's Day sales on the 72" boxes from Harbor Freight (US General) or Home Depot (Husky HD series)? I'm starting a side business and need a tool chest for tools and supplies. I'm not going to get rich off this business, it's more to be more involved in...

New hard handle screwdrivers from Tekton

Made is USA. $75 for 16-pc set. I know not everyone is a fan of Tekton but you have to respect the fact they regularly bring new product to the market, and, on appearance, do their best to have that product made in the USA. Black oxide blades are coming for only $60.

I need to replace this load center.....how is something like this done?

I'm going to have to replace the load center on my house before too long. The existing load center is one of those crappy Zinsco units from the mid-70s flush mounted in the south exterior wall of my stucco house. At the same time, I'd like to run conduit/wire clear around the house to the north...

Tekton 90T Flex Ratchets now available

Looks like Tekton just released their 90T flex ratchets. I'm liking their standard 90t ratchets (I'm not a pro, just a home user) and will definitely be buying these, too. Now they need to update the sockets so I can buy a set to keep in the truck. https://www.tekton.com/flex-ratchets
