evapo rust wtf hard to find?

Evapo rust used to be sold everywhere. Just tried my local Ace, Blowes, and Home Despot with no luck. Grainger doesn't even have it, Mcmaster is a mystery as usual. It's available other places online, but it's odd it's not at local stores anyomore. Big push by Rustoleum or other competitor...

Contraption in the woods... what is it?

Found this in an old irrigation canal in an area by a creek where the city used to get it's water until the 1980's. Looks to be water tight and fairly old. The rod is contiguous through the barrel. It has a partition inside it from what I could see. Some kind of adjustable floating valve to...

    ID this old machinists chest

Saw this on the webs. Anyone recognize it? Advertised as machinist chest, mostly oak and has an IAM sticker on it to lends credence to it being machinist related.

What's a good digi angle finder for fab work?

Anyone have a rec on a good compact magnetic angle finder? I have an igaging Angle Cube and it's a total pos. I generally have good luck with the MIC digital stuff, but this thing is utterly useless... not even good enough for gov't work.

What is it exactly and what's it missing... old alarm?

My son and I grabbed this at the restore. I'm guessing some kind of alarm.. noise maker. The motor and spinning eccentric work, but it doesn't make contact with the aluminum cover and doesn't look like it ever has, so must be missing something that fits on/over the eccentric. Any guesses/info...

Marley electric garage heater contactor issue

Have a Marley UH-524TAC ceiling (or wall) mount heater. Last couple days the contactor has really started making a prolonged racket trying to start. Anything to be done with this besides replace the contactor unit? On my drill press I was able to 'clean up' the contactors, but this unit looks...

Trick for replacing one rail in an existing split rail fence?

Trying to help out an elderly neighbor with some fence repair. Is there a trick to sticking a new rail in.. bottom rail of a two rail fence? Posts etc are likely not in great shape, so torquing on the posts is probably not a good idea. I was just going to cut a rail in half and scew n glue it...
