    River rock instead of lawn?

I've got a lot of lawn, and some of it is between all my fruit trees and around my generator. I've been tempted to put some kind of rock down instead. Has anyone done anything similar?

    $0 Scrap 2x4 Tire Rack

I was going to buy one, but it would be at least $45 for some Chinese junk. Ended up using all scrap 2x4's, and all mis-matched used/misc screws and lag bolts. Came out pretty good I think

Hands/Face getting hit with something coming out of brushed drill?

Well, not a drill but a rotary hammer. I got this from HF about 3 years ago and its paid for itself probably 5 or 6 times over https://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/demo-hammers/rotary-hammers/11-amp-1-916-in-sds-max-type-variable-speed-rotary-hammer-64425.html FANTASTIC for the price...

What is the point in 12 point sockets?

I'm sure just like everyone, I have a big mix-n-match of sockets. Some 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2, some 6 sided and some 12 I liked to think I would always keep them nice and matched, but that never happens, as in the past I would always be missing a socket while I had my wifes car half apart, and had to...

Fence/Gate Ideas - Need your opinion

When I moved in, we replaced a small metal fence with a wooden fence behind our trash cans, and we generally enjoyed it (Despite being poorly constructed! Used an existing post there, and it was my first ever time building a fence) Since then we got a generator installed, pool removed...

In need of a new entry door - Suggestions?

My garage entry door is terrible, the frame is rotted out and it needs to be replaced as there are many other problems Can someone suggest a door style and color? The catch here is that I'd like to keep a cat-flap in it! So does that mean wood is the way to go? Or is it easy enough to cut a...

    Making garage hurricane proof

Alright, not hurricane proof, but much better than it was. I have no walls up, so I figured I'd take this time to put in stud ties, replace some rotted studs, hurricane ties and better foundation anchoring Most of my rafters are like this, not very well connected Before ordering hurricane...

Backup water to house - IBC Tote + Well Pump?

I think I'm set for everything else. If the power goes out I'm good, if the gas goes out I'm good, but if the water goes out its a pain. My plan here is to tee into the water line going to my garage and attach a shutoff and then plumb in a well pump, and then an IBC tote with a studor vent...

HVAC Surge Protector - Yay or Nay?

I already have a surge protector in my main panel (Generac ATC) and one in my first electrical panel. Is spending the $75 each for Intermatic AG3000 surge protectors on my main AC and 2 mini splits worth the cost?

Crescent/APEX Tool warranty WIN - Very happy

When I bought my house in 2019, I had a lot of stumps and old concrete set posts I needed to remove. I went to Home Depot and found the Crescent Bull Bar. It helped a lot and I've gotten a ton of use out of it, but through the years of me putting all my weight on it, its bent where the metal...

Cleaning up AC Lineset and Condensate drains

I think I did pretty good here. Any other tips for making it even better? I was thinking about getting some UV resistant insulation for the 3/8 line just to give it some protection, but I'm not sure Before: Now
