    Cold Bluing a Bullet Vise

A project that I had been meaning to complete was restoring a 5” Bullet. I bought it few years ago and it was not assembled at the time. It was missing its’ end cap, handles were bent, rusty and the rough finish that normally covers the entire vise was worn smooth on the top behind the anvil. It...

Restoring a 70 year old Snap On tool box

I thought I would start a thread about my tool box journey that I started about a year ago. The thread that started it all: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=219110 Brad54 helped me find this set that ended a 4 year search. The pictures below were taken the first night in my...

    Mystery Tool in Mechanist Chest

Found this set in a small black box made by Helman Mfg in Urbana Ohio. The set has on one end a hex hole. Inside of each size (they are hollowed out and you unscrew the end) is 4 to 5 pieces that have a hex end and a thread end. What were/are they used for? To clean the thread? Has me stumped.

    Toyota FJ40 Tool Caddy/ Assistent/ Trolley

I purchased this Hazet Assistent back in 2009. I used it as a detailing cart and found that its’ size worked well around my garage. I sold the cart in 2012 because I knew that I bought it for a good price ($250) and could double my money. Sold it to a nice kid who was a VW mechanic and was in...

Tool box restoration and semi tubular rivets

Forgive if this is a re post from someone else. I purchased this three piece Snap On chest this past week for $100. I can't resist 1930-1940's era boxes priced this low and I knew this set had some serious issues, first and for most the lid ripped off of the K55. I'm not sure what I will do...
