    Garage Floor Issue

We moved into a home that has a separate garage... I'm rebuilding it, but the garage floor is a real goddam mess. Looks like the previous owner leveled it with a flat point shovel. I don't want to tear it out and replace it, but I'd like to smooth it out. Should I have it ground down, or is...

    Finally! Asphalt!

It's been several years since my wife and I finished our house/shop. We finally got asphalt installed last month. No more tracking mud in the house.... My wife is a happy girl! We bordered everything with a 6 inch concrete curb, and ran a brick sidewalk across to break it up a bit so it wasn't...

    Wiring to the breaker box.

I'm not sure how to wire from the meter base to the breaker box in my house.(200 amp) It used to be that you just drove two grounding rods into the ground and made a continuous ground to the panel, but a buddy told me the code now requires that I be connected to the rebar in the foundation...

    Talk to me about betonite

I'm installing a pretty large pond on the property (29,000 gallons, 2,000 square feet). I figured on using a epdm pond liner, but they're expensive and can tear. I've never used betonite, but some old timers around here seem to think it would work for me. I've got lotsa questions.. Does it...

Getting ready for spring pond construction.

There's about 2 feet of snow on the ground now, but I decided I couldn't wait any longer to start on construction of my pond. I got it dug out last fall, and then winter hit.... This week I've been prefabricating the pump house and waterwheel. I'll drag them down to the pond when weather...

    Lighting up the place

My wife and I were cruising Lowes about a year ago and saw some kinda nice outdoor lights on clearance. Long story short we bought ALL of them (8) We started putting them out this week. The lights are only about 7 feet tall which is way too friggin short in my mind, so I decided to build two...

    The Crapper

I had a new well drilled on the property and it was pretty unsightly, so I decided that in keeping with the barn theme an outhouse would look appropriate. It really goes well with the rest of the place, and provides a bit of humor. The neighbors have been confused about the place since I...

    Can I do this?

I want to run a series of outlets and pole lights around my yard. 20 Amps is a bit shy of what I need to do this so I'm thinking of running 30 amps on 10 gage wire out to the light/outlets. The breaker would be a GFI. Question is: Can I use standard 20 amp outlets on the poles and still be OK...

Anybody build their own gate opener?

I've been looking for a gate opener, and all the reviews are HORRIBLE ! Even the fairly expensive models. Has anyone here built their own out of an old garage door opener or such? Lets see what you've got. I have 2 eight foot gates that are on ball bearings and move easily.

Who makes a good gate opener?

I've got 2 eight foot wrought iron gates that swing open. Who makes a reliable opener for these? The reviews for the "Mighty Mule" are dismal even though the price is attractive. If you have an opener what has been your experience?
