    Is this a welding table?

Saw this posted on marketplace nearby listed as a welding table. It looks interesting, maybe with a fan to downdraft? Is this worth picking up for my first welding table?

Neutral lug doesn't fit in main panel, wrong type?

Hey guys, So I'm finishing up the sub panel installation in my garage. I have the breaker (90a) installed in the main panel, but I ran into a problem installing the neutral and ground lugs from the square d kit: The lug doesn't fit on the neutral or ground bars. It's too wide to line up...

Best way to clean out sandblaster tank?

I borrowed a pressure pot sandblaster from a friend and it's so plugged up with wet, rusty old sand that it won't flow any new blasting media. I removed all the valves and fittings so it's just the pressure tank. I can run air through it, but it doesn't pick up any of the heavy, wet sand...

Vinyl soffit/fascia with fiber cement siding?

I'm going to redo all the siding and trim on my house and garage this year and looking at options. I like the look and easy installation of the certainteed vinyl soffit and fascia, but I want fiber cement lap siding and trim. Is it a bad idea to mix materials like this? Will it look "wrong"...

Hey fellas, Hoping someone can help me with this. We have an older trane central ac in the rental house and I'm trying to get access to the A coil to clean it out and investigate some moisture issues. I'm not able to remove the cover from the air handler - all the screws are out but the...

Mower question - fixed idler arm with chain?

Hi fellas, I brought home a new project mower last week and have started tearing in. One of the things I noticed right away is that the previous owner replaced the (presumably broken) spring on the idler arm for the drive belt with a chain and a turnbuckle that threads into a hole in the frame...

    where can I buy a 4" x 4" plate with a ring welded on?

I'm hoping someone can help me track down a part that's eluding me. I just got a new tractor, and I want to mount rings to either side of the front chassis for a tie-down point. Holes are already drilled from the factory, but spaced on a strange metric scale that's not quite 3". I'm trying to...

    Cutting polyester webbing straps?

I just picked up a few 27' ratcheting tie downs for my trailer. I really only need 8' or so, is it ok to cut these things to length without damaging them? I was planning to wrap with tape, cut, then flame the edge to seal it up. Any suggestions or warnings? Thanks!

How to size hydraulic wheel motors?

So in the spirit of engineering discovery I'd like to build a small skid-steering hydraulic vehicle - something around the size of a Toro Dingo or similar. I'm planning to use one of these tandem pumps for the drive system...

I hate teflon tape, and I hate pipe dope - Loctite works 1000% better

I've never really heard anyone talk about it but I just wanted to say how much easier it is to use a drop of blue loctite to seal threads for air lines. It's a trick I picked up back when I was into paintball guns, trying to seal up 800psi supply lines. Nothing I've ever found works as well...

Need to rebuild IR 231c impact wrench ...

Have an Ingersoll 231c with a worn anvil. I would like to go ahead and replace it now before it runs the risk of breaking off under pressure. Has anyone ever seen disassembly / rebuild instructions online? I'm not quite sure where to start and I don't want to take it apart without being sure...

What is the recommended sealant for air line fittings?

What do you guys think? Pipe dope? Teflon Tape? Loctite? I used to use blue Loctite on my paintball guns and it worked great for preventing leaks even with 800psi of pressure. It's a little pricy though, and I have lot of connections to make. Thx

Do those pressurized paint tanks work well?

Does anybody have experience with something like this: I 've got a small compressor (5-6 scfm @ 90psi) but I think the pressure requirements are pretty low. Would this thing do the job for spraying exterior latex (properly thinned and treated) on my house, or do I need to fork out for an...

help plz: changing oil on old compressor pump

I just scored an old Speedaire compressor off Craigslist for $40. It needs a new pressure switch, which I've already ordered, and I thought I'd go ahead and clean up the pump and change the oil. I don't have a manual, and have had no luck finding one, so I was hoping someone here could help me...

Questions about gas engine air compressors

So I recently came into posession of a good 5hp Briggs motor and I was thinking about piecing together a portable compressor. I have a line on a tank and pumps are easy enough to find. I'm wondering how the pressure switch works on non-electic compressors. How does the switch trigger the...
