Help me buy my first compressor

    I sold my 33-Gallon Craftsman and bought a 10-Gallon CAT. It's amazing! My ears (and probably my neighbor's ears) thank me every time I turn it on. 1610: 3.80 CFM @ 40 PSI, 2.35 CFM @ 90 PSI; 35 Lbs 4610: 3.80 CFM @ 40 PSI, 2.35 CFM @ 90 PSI; 53 Lbs 263DLH: 4.30 CFM @ 40 PSI, 3.50 CFM @ 90 PSI...

Anyone have any real world experience with radiant barrier in the attic?

We had to re-sheet the roof on our new house in SoCal so, we had 'em use radiant barrier OSB as the additional cost was almost nothing. The house was still too new to us to say but, it seems like it helped. The county inspector seemed pretty convinced that we were gonna save a ton of money FWIW.

    Metric motorcycle tools

The 0-20 PSI is from Pit Posse. The 10-50 PSI is branded by my local motorcycle store but, Pit Posse makes one in that range too. I borrowed a *really* nice stick gauge from someone the other day at the track - it bugs me that I didn't write down the brand.

    Metric motorcycle tools

Having a lift is glorious! I wouldn't sweat buying a cheap one but, a good wheel vise goes a long way. I dropped a Weaver Wheel Clamp (~$80 at the time) on my budget lift that had a similar tire vise to the HF lift and it made a world of difference. If I was to do it again, I'd buy the Titan or...

    Metric motorcycle tools

Thanks! The track toolbox is still, as always, in progress. The 0-20 PSI is for dirt bikes and the 10-50 PSI is for street bikes. I haven't found a stick gauge that is accurate enough and has the range to do both. Some tire dealers at the track have a self-serve station to compare your gauge to...

    Metric motorcycle tools

Topical thread: http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=262507 - Show your motorcycle track tool box For some reason I mostly only use t-handles on the dirtbike and mostly 1/4"-drive for some reason. I've got all the tools I need for most basic maintenance including valve height...

portable compressors : Husky TA-2530B vs. California Air Tools 263DLH ????

FWIW, I've owned a CAT 10020 (2 hp/10 gal) for about 6 months now and I've got nothing but good things to say about it - it's so quiet! I can't say anything about it's durability yet though.

Several 26" chests vs. one large chest

After years of selling the old box and upgrading to a bigger one until I reached the "big box" stage, I will say that I love the big box but, that the multiple small boxes is cheaper for the storage space, lets you more easily add capacity, and it lets you be much more granular about how you...

Cutting socket tray to fit my box

Hey, true dat! FWIW, I cut up the Harbor Freight Socket Trays (easiest to re-label) any which way I pleased. Of course they're dirt cheap so, no risk though.

    Shelves for Garage--Help!

We just moved into a new house and I was looking to get some shelf storage quickly to clean things up so, I bought some of the Husky 24" deep pallet racks (~$200) too. Gladiator (~$180) and Edsal (~$150), among others, make 'em as well. I like the Husky because it was taller and came with more...

    Amazon Tool Returns

Yeah, it's pretty easy on amazon's website. Print off the shipping label, re-box it and drop it off somewhere UPS picks up.

    Motorcycle Garages Only

Nice! I got permission from the Mrs. to build a little one at our new place. I was gonna go electric - that way the neighbors never have to know. I haven't found as many electric trials bikes as I would have imagined though.

Would you swap to a smaller air Compressor?

Sure - I'll have to dig it out and take it apart (still unpacking from a move). Maybe this weekend?

Would you swap to a smaller air Compressor?

Oh, I forgot, my CAT came with shoulder bolts for the wheels so, no more wheel binding issues. I haven't tried the die grinder out yet but, it's nice to know it will probably work!

Would you swap to a smaller air Compressor?

It's amazing how quiet it is! My initial impression is that the regulator and tank drain isn't as nice as the craftsman it replaced but, very happy with the purchase and this "downgrade." It may be the many years of oil-less noise torture but, I'm almost giddy about how quiet it is.

Review: Whalen Industrial Rack Shelves ( From Costco )

Just bought two of the Husky-branded versions a couple of days ago. I also didn't install a bottom shelf so, that I could roll larger items underneath. Dunno why I didn't think to connect the two units with the two extra shelves - I'm gonna have to re-arrange my garage again.
