    simple homemade ultrasonic cleaner?

That is kind of interesting regardless of the specific name of the technology. Do you have a link to the videos? I could not find them.

Beat & battered, bought it anyway....

Hard to tell from the pictures but most of it does not look that bad. I know I have seen much worse. The only way I could see breaking the handles like that would be to knock it over or crush it when moving it. I'm sure it is keeping some interesting secrets of a past life.

    Interesting Vise: Homemade?

I saw this in an ad for an upcoming Estate Sale here in Chicago. Anyone seen one like this before. I don't think I'll be able to make the sale so I figured I would post this up. (Also, I would probably get a divorce if I brought anything else home.)

    Baldor 1/2HP bench grinder

How do you do that? I'm curious about mine. $90 for a 7" Baldor is a great deal. You just need to have a plan around the rests if you feel you need them. I suspect true replacement from Baldor would be quite expensive. On a side note, I see grinders all the time that are missing the rests...

    Gutting a Baldor Grinder (Help!)

Thanks! That is kind of what I thought. Rats. Everything else came apart so nicely. I'll have to look into this electric motor cleaner! Any tips on getting the Baldor name tag off? I would like to remove it so I can paint under it. I had hoped to push the pins out from the inside but...

    Gutting a Baldor Grinder (Help!)

Need some help here. I recently picked up an older 8" Baldor Grinder. It ran great but was covered in grease and grimy dirt on top of a couple of coats of paint. (I suspect this one dates to the early 60s or later as it has the older style BALDOR logo in a comic sans front and does not have...

    How do you store.....

I bought the Craftsman torx set simply because I needed a long security torx to reach down a deep hole on a piece of electronics. Any bit holding type driver would not have worked. That said, good old bent hex wrenches work just find unless you use them a ton.

    How do you store.....

I made something like this out of a wood bock. It worked fine when I had not many tools and lots of space. But it took up too much counter space for a tools I don't use every day so I tossed the block into the scrap wood pile. Mine are now just in a pile in a drawer. I was thinking of using...

    Garbage/Recycle Can storage ideas

I have always thought it would be cool to make a special mini attached garage that I could could dedicate to these big cans If it were linked to the kitchen with a true exterior door it would be convenient to toss stuff out but the smells would say out of the house and the garage.

Odd box for 1/2 socket set

50 years ago some guy made that box and was probably pretty pleased with it. I bet he would never have guessed that people all over the world are looking at and are impressed with what he made. These interwebs are kind of cool.

I just use clear plastic kitchen drawer liner from Kmart. I don't know what the more expesive liners could do that would make them any better or worth more money.

    Best cordless drill?

One other thing. Fine Homebuilding & Fine Woodworking magazines publish an annual tool review. Last year I picked up a copy in early December. Great info.

    Best cordless drill?

Milwaukee, Rigid, Ryobi and some Craftsman are all made by the same company. (TTi in Hong Kong) However, they are still not fully consolidated so there are differences. Porter-Cable is now owned by Black & Decker. B&D has owned the DeWalt brand for many years and also makes some Craftsman...

25% off Dremel at Travers Tool

I just upgraded to the Craftsman version of the Rotozip. I'll never go back to the silly little Dremel. The additional power is well worth the money. (They are both made by Bosch)

    Work Tools

I keep a Leatherman and a Craftsman 10-in-1 screwdriver. (The same screwdriver is sold under the Klien name.) That pretty much covers everything that comes up around the cube farm. I guess MS Excel is my favorie tool in the office. Like anything else, the user of the tool maters a lot more...

New From garage Gorilla from Sears!

I used to buy shelving for my warehouse and I always found that the used stuff was cheaper and often higher quality than I would have bought otherwise. One old trick to use with pallet shelving like this is to use 2X6s for the pallet cross supports instead of the metal supports. A few uprights...
